Trollheart presents: the Open Journal

No, not yet another one of mine. This is an idea I floated a few years back, never got off the ground so, given the pretty poor participation in the journals section at the moment, I thought I'd try airing it again.

Basically, this would be, as the title suggests, a totally open journal, open to anyone who wants to post whatever they want. Why bother? Well it occurs to me there may be people out there who are half-interested in starting a journal but think or know they could not keep it up over a sustained period (shut up Batty), or would be worried about writing enough articles, wouldn't know what to say, etc etc.

This could be the answer.

So, say you want to write about, oh let's say Prince, but haven't either enough research or information or else don't know how to put the thing together over an extended period of time, or you wouldn't mind writing a bit but not a lot, you can do so here. If you want to write about cooking, or sport, or your cat or dog, or football or baseball or the decline of post-punk bands - whatever the hell you want to write about. If you want to write, you can do so here.

And there's no minimum requirement of effort. You don't have to worry about updating every week, or few weeks, or whatever. Hell, if you want to, you can say what you want to say and leave it at that. For some people, perhaps one entry would be enough. Others might have more to say. It's up to you.

Should you want to, you can of course collaborate. Say you think there isn't enough coverage of, maybe, post-ambient-electro-drone-black-depressive-psychobilly-horrorcore, and some of your mates also think the same thing, and you want to write about it, you all can.

There doesn't have to be any overarching theme though. You can write about, say, the rise of vaporwave while another member can ramble on about a gig he went to while a third might want to talk about the best way to breed camels. Doesn't matter. You can operate autonomously or with others, whatever suits you, and at whatever pace or rate of update you like.

Or not.

It's literally up to you guys. Think of this maybe as a scrapbook that you can stick stuff in when you like, but are under no obligation to do so. I personally obviously won't be taking part, but anyone else can. You might start writing in this and find that you really like it, and want to start you own personal journal, and you can do that too of course.

Or you can let this sink to the bottom of the fifth page and never be heard from again. But it's there if you guys want it. Just an idea; I'm not invested in it and it won't bother me if nobody takes it up, but I thought it might be something that someone may be interested in, and maybe a way for those who can't be bothered to write a full journal to still get involved if they wish.

I'll leave it with you.

When your opening description rates a "tl:dr",
you probably can't expect even a medium-
sized journal entry to make any mark.
It's always been a problem here.
I'd recommend the attention-challenged
tweet-size journal, but it would only
encourage lazy reading and minimal thought.

What color is that deer? Now spell out "tldr" out loud.

Yes but look at who we're talking about. If it hasn't got pictures of people going POW! POW! TAKE THAT YOU CAPED CRIMINAL! he don't want to know.

Anyway, it's not aimed at him. He has journals (of sorts) of his own.

A wall of text as an intro is unnecessary when the basic concept can be summed up in quite possibly one sentence.
