I started this journal to impress you.

I literally saw your last post, thought of myself, felt like an *******, then checked that previous post and felt vindicated. I literally remembered nothing of having been the previous post but then I was and felt like of course I was. Congratulations on having fed my personality disorder.

Vatican Commandos - Hit Squad for God https://img.discogs.com/Mf0HzcCbCDAE...901070.jpg.jpg USA 1983 Hardcore Punk Thoughts: Open your mind and understand that no one knows you. No one owns you. No one should be able to tell you what to do. You're still young enough to have it all figured out. Wait what? lol This was Moby's first band. Release info: Released as a limited edition 7" vinyl in 1983 (Pregnant Nun / PN#1, USA). |
Various Artists - Hoisting the Black Flag http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6rnkLkO_fV...307981154.jpeg UK 1981 Industrial, Experimental Rock, Power Electronics Thoughts: Dueling banjos, except instead of banjos it's power electronics. He keeps fainting, yes. And he's dizzy all the time. Well, have you been doing what I recommended? How much aspirin do you take when you have a fever of 106? Forget the aspirin. Just listen to Dance Music. TFW you hold down the FWD button on my mp3 player, and the track sounds the same as if you didn't. Release info: Released on vinyl in 1981 (United Dairies / UD06, UK). |
Various Artists - I.D. Art #2 https://www.art-into-life.com/data/a...319_777711.jpg USA 1976 Sound Collage, Experimental Thoughts: From the LAFMS label, so much wankery and randomness expected. You're gonna get spoken word, sound collages, piano concertos, and experimental trickery. There were moments when I actually laughed out loud while listening to this. Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl in 1976 (LAFMS / LAFMS #002), then re-issued on CD in 2007 (Paradigm / PD 23, UK). |
Merzbow - I'm Proud by Rank of the Workers: Live in Khabarovsk CCCP https://img.discogs.com/x6zBDBdECViX...28888.jpeg.jpg Japan 1988 Noise, Free Improvisation Thoughts: No, comrade! Side A too noisy. In Mother Russia, noise listen to you! Yes yes. Bring drum. Drum on Side B! Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl in 1988 (ZSF / SH63-01, Japan). |
John Bender - I Don't Remember Now / I Don't Want to Talk About It https://img.discogs.com/5UUGIV44E588...38354.jpeg.jpg Germany 1980 Minimal Synth Thoughts: Damn. A lot of lonely motherfuckers out there who hate the passage of time and sunny days. Music when you've realized everything is stale and old. Do you ever just wonder why you even try? Release info: Released on handmade, numbered edition vinyl in 1980 (Record Sluts / RS 001, USA) before being re-issued on high-grade vinyl again and again in the early 21st century. |
Mary Monday and Her Bitches - I Gave My Punk Jacket to Rickie / Popgun https://i1.wp.com/hozacrecords.com/b...Monday-300.jpg USA 1977 Punk Rock Thoughts: Dammit, Rickie! You really fucked this girl up. Thanks. Release info: Released on vinyl 7" in 1977 (Malicious, USA). |
Stäläg 13 - In Control https://img.discogs.com/_enNLvXbQh7w...26498.jpeg.jpg USA 1984 Hardcore Punk, Skate Punk Thoughts: Too many rules! Think I'll go sk8. Stop judging me! I hurt all over. Release info: Released on vinyl in 1984 (Upstart / UP 005, USA), then re-issued on CD with bonus tracks in 2003 (Dr. Strange / DSR88, USA). This bonus track re-issue was pressed on vinyl in 2005 (Soa / SOA 81, Italy). |
Nurse With Wound - Insect and Individual Silenced https://diskunion.net/images/jacket/AGS120409-02.jpg UK 1981 Industrial, Noise Thoughts: Walking through the wind chimes of Hell. If you want to get fucked up, spin this. Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl in 1981 (United Dairies / UD08, UK) and as a cassette remix in the same year (United Dairies / UDT08, UK). CD re-issues followed, including a handmade limited- and numbered-edition CD (UD08CD / RAASH01, USA), in the 21st century. |
Tuxedomoon - Joeboy...(Joeboy the Electronic Ghost) / Pinheads on the Move https://img.discogs.com/w8YSoF2sX_hU...12893.jpeg.jpg USA 1978 Post-Punk, Synth Punk Thoughts: Wow. The B side is way better than the single. Zany! Like a lo-fi bastard of TMBG and Talking Heads. Release info: Released on vinyl 7" in 1978 (Tidal Wave / TWR 101, USA). |

B.G.K. - Jonestown Aloha https://img.discogs.com/Hic4GYOjXPhL...-6052.jpeg.jpg Netherlands 1983 Hardcore Punk Thoughts: Your perceived dichotomy does not exist. When you pray for peace and kill for your religion, these two actions are not at odds, for the elimination of your enemies brings about peace. So nuke those fools who don't look like you! Get them before they get you, and you shall have peace. I approve of how well these lads express themselves so monosyllabically. Release info: Released on vinyl in 1983 (Vögelspin / BITE 008, Netherlands). |
^nice dude. Here's some Dutch punk my housemate introduced me to
|
Thoughts: Dignity? Acceptance? Not sure which one this is, and the static drone doesn't help shed any light on the issue. A slow build toward...something...so maybe we're supposed to accept it? Release info: Released on numbered edition vinyl in 1995 (Aeroplane / AR17, UK). |
Controlled Bleeding - Knees and Bones https://img.discogs.com/oYBDVcOcDzNj...147298.jpg.jpg USA 1985 Power Electronics, Noise Thoughts: Ear-rape in five sophisticated movements. This is what the Rakdos guild makes their captive audiences listen to. Just when you think it's getting better, it gets worse. No one's going home! Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl in 1985 (Psychout / Psypro 003, Sweden) before enjoying bonus tracks remastered CD re-issue in 1997 (Dossier / DCD 9084, Germany). In 2016, the bonus-tracks album was simultaneously re-issued on CD and vinyl (Artoffact, Canada). |
Thoughts: Holy shit. Eight songs in six minutes! This is the premature ejaculation of punk, and they're not the least bit embarrassed by their lack of longevity. Release info: Released on gatefold vinyl 7" in 1983 (n/a / n/a, USA), then re-issued on colored vinyl 7" in 2007. |
Thoughts: Now imagine this never ever ever letting up. Ever. This is the antithesis of everything. Release info: Released on handmade numbered edition vinyl in 1989 (Freudwerk / Freudwerk-01, Germany). |
Thoughts: This is just about what a J-peep would think LSD sounds like, since every kind of drug is illegal here and they have no idea what a psychedelic substance would feel like. The first track is aptly named, and I've no doubt the hum of the whale probe in space is inspired by it. Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl in 1984 (L∴S∴D∴ / LSDL-01, Japan) and then enjoyed a limited edition vinyl re-issue in 2011 (P∴C∴P∴ / PCPR-02, Germany). |
On a Treasure Hunt N.O.T.A. Moscow 7" I'm looking for a near-mint or mint copy of N.O.T.A.'s 'Moscow' 7" single (Unclean Records, 1984). I have some specifications about it: the key is that it has to be the original 1st edition, which means there is a photo of the band on the rear side of the sleeve and all song titles are handwritten as opposed to typed out. It also has to have the original insert intact with it, which should be either in white or yellow (there are 2 versions of it, either one is fine). I'll pay up to $180 for it if it's in good condition and everything is intact. Any leads? Discogs is coming up blank. rostasi? |
Doo Dooettes / Le Forte Four - L.A. Free Music Society Live at The Brand https://img.discogs.com/FFdd2sMTHq8o...-3880.jpeg.jpg USA 1976 Free Improvisation, Experimental Rock, Electronic, Tape Music Thoughts: I wonder how many holes came out to catch this show. Does such highly artistic and esoteric work as this resonate with a hole? Can a hole grasp the moment of this kind of music? Release info: Released on handmade gatefold vinyl in 1976 (LAFMS / LAFMS #03/4, USA). |
Fang - Landshark! https://img.discogs.com/bwieEua_IR_U...-4119.jpeg.jpg USA 1983 Punk Rock, Hardcore Punk Thoughts: The vocals are surprisingly clear and melodic for punk, especially considering how lo-fi the rest of it sounds. I don't consider this particularly hardcore, but it certainly is sad, unlike a lot of the high-energy political punk of the time. More stuff about rape, junkies, and zombies than bitching about Reagan. I mean, Reagan bitching is there, but it doesn't dominate. A lot of punk bands take the world's problems on the chin and fight back. This EP is more brooding, talking about unendurable pain and suicide, like they're wedding themselves to Death. Release info: Released on vinyl in 1983 (Boner / FANG 1, USA) and then re-issued on 180-gram vinyl in 2014 (Boner / BR01, USA). |
Adrenalin O.D. - Let's Barbeque https://img.discogs.com/u2E_J0sApxb-...-8684.jpeg.jpg USA 1983 Hardcore Punk Thoughts: Too fast and sarcastic for suburbia. Life's too hard for white boys. Won't somebody help them? Release info: Released on 7" vinyl in 1983 (Buy Our Records / BOR-7-001, USA). |
The Germs - Lexicon Devil / Circle One / No God https://img.discogs.com/dyj6tLbXBt6y...-8427.jpeg.jpg https://img.discogs.com/F8WI5jGJjbSS...-5212.jpeg.jpg USA 1978 Punk Rock, Hardcore Punk Thoughts: A lot of bounce overall and even a little bit of twang in the first track. I'm surprised that I actually almost like this! ...wait. Holy shit! That's Hitler in plate mail! Release info: Released on 7" vinyl in two different album covers in 1978 (Slash / SCAM 101, USA), re-issued in 1990 on 7" vinyl with bonus tracks ((Counterfeit) / Slash: SCAM 101), and then re-issued on exclusive, limited edition 7" vinyl in 2017. |
Tuxedomoon - Live at Deaf Club, 1979 https://e.snmc.io/i/300/w/42693d65ac...a46d1e/6907394 USA 1979 Minimal Wave, Synth Punk, Post-Punk, Experimental Rock Thoughts: "Look there's two reasons why people work One, to take their minds off the frightening possibility of What they would do with all their free time if they weren't working and two To buy enough things to keep their minds Off the frightening possibility of what they do if they weren't working" Release info: This is only an archival release, available on lossless digital (Tuxedomoon Archives / TMSC004). |
Tuxedomoon - Live at the Palms, 1978 https://img.discogs.com/2sa-o9uqwTiT...50128.jpeg.jpg USA 2011 Experimental, Electronic Thoughts: An experimental lo-fi listening experience that doesn't demand anything from the listener. Release info: This is an archival release only, so it's available as a downloadable digital file. |
Someone trying to shock a synthesizer back to life while a Frenchman talks to me and beats on the walls and tables with spoons. This is a serious operation, and all I can do is sit stunned in wonder at the mystery unfolding before me. When the caterwauling starts, I just kind of scoot my chair back. Then scattered applause nearby startles me, and I join in with strained, hunted smile. And the day that dude's the Walrus....hell, that's the day I'm an astronaut! |
Tuxedo Mask > Tuxedomoon

Never heard of them, and can't find them on RYM.

I wonder how many people check my table of contents.

I can almost guarantee you that nobody knows you have one. And I don't even know if I knew about anime when I first watched Sailor Moon. I probably did but it's really a proto-weeb thing.

I've got my blog for my Museum Musica, but this fun little project doesn't fit there, so I'm going to continue it here.
So...carry on! |
Various Artists - A Selection https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_sXDqFPQYA...+-+sydney+.jpg Australia 1981 Post-Punk, Minimal Synth Thoughts: Giving the people what they want, even a drunken, pisstake rendition of "Baby Love". Release info: Released on 12" vinyl (M2010) by M Squared in 1981. |
Thoughts: I often listen to music on my Bluetooth earphones, and sometimes the music will intermittently cut out because of signal disruption. This happens most often when cycling--the music device just happens to be on the other side of my body from the earpiece that is picking up the signal. This guy, however, disrupts his own signal intentionally, thereby achieving by design what which most annoys me about Bluetooth. Release info: Released as a "picture disc" vinyl LP (SLP 017) in 1987 under the Selektion label. |
Das Synthetische Mischgewebe - Audience of the Souldestroyers https://img.discogs.com/HTDPUoX7wOmb...10651.jpeg.jpg Germany 1982 Noise, Industrial Thoughts: Those are some long-lasting Rice Krispies! Listen to 'em snap, crackle, and pop until the milk is rancid. As people applaud, eat and get sick. But don't worry! They've got opera on the radio--drat! Nothing but static. Release info: Released only on cassette (Das Cassetten Combinat / 002). |
