Walking into the room and opening the creaky door that slams shuts behind me. The hair on my arms are standing up stiffer than a starched collar on a dress shirt. Glancing around the room, I catch a glimpse of dust bunnies fucking. Yes, you heard me right piles of dust in the shape of an actual bunny having intercourse. I think to myself. I've seen it all now. I search the room looking for a duster to clean up the place a bit while I'm constantly coughing because of how stuffy the general room is. I find an aluminum Wu Tang symbol in the corner of the room. I think to myself I know exactly where I am and what I will be doing going forward. It's time for me to put on my research cap and explore this dingy room.

Well, it's time for me to venture into Journal land again. I know I always start up these cool journals but never keep up with them or follow through till I finish but maybe things will be different this time around. In this journal I'm going to be going through the Wu Tang Discography and all of their solo projects for each member. Yes, even U-God. if he has any solo material. I don't know but I will be finding out. My wife is big into Wu-Tang which is pretty funny because she just became a fan in the span of a year. She used their music to help get over a breakup and now she goes around gatekeeping who can be fans and who aren't true diehard fans. I got her tickets to see them and Nas in the fall. She's also getting a Wu Tang tattoo on her ankle pretty soon.

I've listened to various Wu Tang songs over the years but never really sat down and went through an album from beginning to end. So, this will be my time to hyper focus on them. I'll also use to journal to help me work on my music reviewing skills and to drop a short story from time to time based off of the theme of individual solo projects. It will give me an outlet to do some free writes and we shall see what comes of it. I won't be pressuring myself to submit entries on a timed schedule because I feel like that leads to burn out. So, I will update this journal whenever I feel like it pretty much.

I'm going to continually add to this post but I'm going to start with the order of the albums that I will be listening to then reviewing which is most likely going to be all of their group efforts and then I'll start with Ghostface's solo material.

Will be following this eagerly! I love the first two group albums and the first batch of solo albums, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with anything after Wu-Tang Forever.

Enter the Wu-Tang is damn near a 10/10 rap album, I wish I could jam it for the first time again.

Oh wow now this should be interesting. I've listened to practically everything the group and its members have done, beyond some of the latter most recent solo projects. Wu Tang is for the children. I was obsessed in high school.

Super excited to read your thoughts about the albums, DJ! Curious though, you did say you're going to be covering their solo albums - but are you planning to branch out into side projects at all? The two that come to mind off the dome are Gravediggaz Six Feet Deep (a side project of RZA) and the Blackout! albums (Method Man / Redman). If you don't end up covering them here, definitely check them out regardless at some point, some great material there!





If Enter the Wu-Tang isn't a 10/10, I hardly know what is. There's only 3 or 4 rap albums that I'd say are on the same level. At least in my opinion.

Yeah, it's an all-timer for sure.

And Gravediggaz is an excellent shout, 6 Feet Deep definitely deserves a listen for this project.

When it comes to group albums I stopped after 8 Diagrams so the last two will be brand new to my ears and I've never really listened to any of the solo albums from start to finish. I've mostly heard a track or two from the solo stuff but not a full album.

I didn't mention side projects in the initial post but of course I will be diving into those as well. I've listened to Blackout! and Blackout! 2 before but missed out on Gravediggaz. I'm going through it all. I figured it would be a nice lengthy project/journal to tackle since there is so much material to go over.

I've never been able to get into Enter the Wu-Tang but I love Six Feet Deep.

For me it's either that or E. 1999 Eternal by Bone Thugs.
