Identifying a background melody from a song in the Kick-Ass score.

Hi all,

Whilst watching Kick-Ass the other day, I noticed that one of the songs, "Flying Home", from the movie's score is from another song. (Won't let me post a Youtube link yet, but the song is the first result for "Flying Home".)

From 0:08 to 0:21 there is a chior melody playing. I'm pretty sure it's from the intro of a song in the 70s maybe?

Are any of you musical geniuses able to pull this melody out of your brains?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Braeden

Doesn't this go into the Name that Tune forum?

Oops, sorry! I guess I didn't search hard enough for a suitable place.

The soundtrack should be available online. I remember searching for it myself with success.
Do you think it's part of the soundtrack, or the general music score? Most times, music scores that aren't licensed or anything, are made as original pieces by the music composer for the movie. If you don't come up with anything in the soundtrack, then do a search for the person that did the overall music for the movie (will be listed in the credits) and try to find info about his work, particularly for Kick Ass.

Sorry -- I may not have written it clearly enough...

I know that the song is "Flying Home" by John Murphy and that it's a movie-cut remix of "Sunshine" by the same composer.

However, I'm more interested in the segment from 0:08-0:21 where there's a synthesized choral melody. This melody has been taken from (or is coincidentally the same) as a mainstream song from awhile back. I'm wondering what the name of that song is.

Thanks for the reply :)

Oh, my bad. I'm just so used to random people joining this forum for "what's this song?" that the responses get a bit automated.
I apologize.
