Apocalypse Now Tune

The part of the movie where they get out of the boat and go into the trenches. There is an African American guy playing the craziest guitar track on an old cassette/tape deck. Can ANYONE please help me find WHO it is?? Where I can get the track from?? or WHO/ Which Muso's play that Grungy 70's psychedelic haunting guitar ??? I have the usual suspects Hendrix/Trower/Floyd etc (it aint any of them). I am chasing something that was definitely NOT mainstream music.

I haven't seen the movie in forever but there are only 2 rock tunes on the official soundtrack that would have anything that sound like psychedelic guitar, it's either

The End by The Doors
Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones

If for some reasons it's not The Doors please try finding a youtube clip of the particular scene from the film but it's probably The Doors.

I'm going to see if youtube has anything/clips on "Dennis Hopper" ( Apocalypse Now).

His late 60s style of Poetry is classic shit.

Thanks gang, but I've crossed most of those paths !

It's definitely NOT the Doors or anything off the album. I'm thinking they may have just got some guitarist at the time ti cut some awesome guitar riff to go with the scene.

If you haven't seen the movie, you should check it out.! Again it's the scene where Willard goes up to a guy and asks "who's in charge here ?" and the Guy replies " Aint YOU ! " But the piece I'm chasing is the music playing on the tape deck. I Love it !

are you talking about this scene?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=mANbl6QX9ok (the clip can't be embedded).

Just over 3 minutes in, after the warped carnival / circus music? I'd bet good money it's a live Jimi Hendrix track slowed down, panned, and faded, just enough so they didn't have to pay for the rights. Though where the film didn't come out until almost a decade after Hendrix's passing it could just as easily be Eddie Hazel doing his best impression / improvising in a studio.
