Default Anybody have any ideas about this tape?

Okay guys, this is going to be a weird request. I doubt anyone can help me, but this is for my brother, so here goes.

We have a box of tapes given to us by our "uncle." Mostly metal, rnb, and German radio recordings from the 80's.

My brother was looking through the box and found this tape from some sort of punk/metalish band called Piranah. It has a hand-drawn album cover of a demonic piranha on the front. The album is called "The Spawning."

Anyway, I couldn't care less, but he can't find anything on it and desperately wants to know some sort of info on this band, and he wants me to post it on here since hey, people here know music. Anybody have any clue, at all?

Piranah, The Spawning

1. By God
2. Coming Down On You
3. Norm
4. Ultimate Sacrifice
5. Ambush
6. The Reaper

Ok, I have no good news for you, but here's the thing: Pirhana II: the Spawning is a movie, so if they called their album that they were either way ahead of their time or it is tied into the B-movie. That's why Googling is ineffective. Also, the name is misspelled, perhaps deliberately, as "piranah", unless that was you, so every search asks "did you mean piranha?"

Tough one...

Tell him to rip it and blog it. I'm afraid I can't help either, but I love hearing those lost tapes from garage bands nobody ever gave a **** about. It's always fascinating stuff. Did he like the album?

It's definitely deliberate, unless they were just bad spellers. The band probably named the record off the movie, or they just happened to name it the same thing. I googled it too, and all I got was that movie and porn for some reason.

He thinks it's good. Not great, but good. They sound like an Antrhax cover band with Glenn Danzig singing for them. Mostly he's just curious.

And yeah, he's planning on ripping it. When he does I'll post it up here.

Thanks for trying, guys!

Interestingly I found a metal band with the same name, but the album title is New World Disorder (1998) and the song list is different, however they DO have songs called Ambush and Norm also.

So my gues is your brother has an older tape, and the band re-released a couple of the songs on this 1998 release...

Strangely however when I clicked on the band it says they were formed in 2007 out of Nashville, TN, so I am more confused now than when I started.

Track listing:

1. Public Nuisance
2. The Hanging
3. Norm
4. Execution
5. Psychic Parallel
6. Scum of the Earth
7. Ambush
8. Insmonia
9. Ever
