Red face Old creepy song

Hi, when I was young I remember watching a VHS of music video compilations that my dad had recorded from TV over the years....there is one particular song that I really want to find, I'll try to describe it as best as I can:
I think it may have been from the 70's, but I'm not certain, it could have been before or after! (very helpful, I know...sorry!) ....It had a creepy feel to it, mist and dimness, and a main man singing - kind of a similar feel as 'monster mash' but not. I think there may have been a couple in a car that maybe crashes (this bit I'm not certain on, I may be trying too hard to remember details) and the man sings something along the lines of "and they're never coming baaack" In a spooky slow voice - emphasis on the elongation of the last word. I assume I must be getting the lyrics wrong since I've done a thousand searches for these and similar lyrics and have found nothing!
If anyone could help, I'd be amazingly grateful! It's been driving me mad for weeks!!
Thanks in advance

Not entirely sure but with the creepy fog atmosphere and the elongation, it could be Blue Jay Way by The Beatles. Not sure if it compares to Monster Mash though... but it's certainly creepy. It ain't exactly an unknown song though.

That's not the one I had in mind, thank you for trying though! If I ever figure it out, I'll post it here!

The bushes scream while my Daddy prunes!
I finally remembered to ask my Dad! What a wonderful end to the year!
