Default 80's pop song, funky melody

This has been bugging the heck out of me for over three months now. I'm looking for an 80's-era funk/pop song, popular enough to be played on an 80s station now and again. The beginning of the song starts out with a VERY catchy melody that I believe is 12 notes long. I wish I could describe it with the actual notes, but unfortunately I'm not musically inclined. The parsons code for it is *UUUDDDUUUUD, if that helps any. The only way I can think to describe it is, well, funky. This repeats two or three times, and then leads into the lyrics after four notes on another instrument which I would guess is a sax. I couldn't hear a scrap of the lyrics, they weren't loud enough. The only work I might have made out was 'superstition.' Singer was male.

I know I don't have much to go on here, it's hard to describe sound over the internet. But I would be so relieved if someone could find this.

Mother of God.
You've done it.
In retrospect, probably wasn't that hard.
