What is this classical song's name?

Here is the link FYR. It's the 1st song.

watch?v=jlui_3jn1SA (sorry, can't post links. Please kindly add YouTube URL before that part)

I don't know what piece of music she was singing. I can only hear something with "Maria", lol.

Not it though.

Trollheart 12-02-2020 11:23 AM

But thanks anyway, right?

ando here 12-02-2020 12:05 PM

:) It is Ave Maria but the version by J.S. Bach/Charles Gounod.

It's a Christmas favorite. The one I play on occasion -

Boom. Nice one, Ando! :thumb:

Yep, that was exactly the words I was typing yesterday :P See, right when I'd finished listening to the original video, my hunch'd been Ave Maria, and I opened the music player to hear it. But the version on my computer is Bach's, a piano played just like in your link. I'd figured that it can't be, and after that I went online to ask you guys.
So when I got your 1st response, I was typing 'not that, but thanks'... but then I saw your user name, and decided to press backspace... :D

Thanks, Ando! Your video doesn't appear though, YouTube says 'unavailable'. But now I've got the keyword Gounod, I did some search and came up with clips like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfzGmMRpy5c
I don't know the movie. Have you guys seen it? What's its name?

Trollheart 12-03-2020 05:03 AM

Yeah. Maybe instead of judging me by my username (which is based on a character in a novel I wrote, and not on internet trolling by the way) it might have been an idea to look at my post count. Just sayin'.

Anyway, glad you found what you were looking for.

Must be a copyright issue with your country. Works fine on my end. I picked the Battle/Parkening version because, to me, it's the most simple and beautiful. Quite the opposite of this popular "contemporary" version which has a tacky club beat added at the back end -

Yeah, that's made with clips of the actress, Olivia Hussey as The Virgin Mary, Franco Zeffirelli's 1977 TV film, Jesus of Nazareth.
The over 6 hour movie is in two parts (and one 144 minute condensed version) on YouTube if you're interested.

Hussey was also Juliet in Zeffirelli's '70 version of Romeo & Juliet, still my favorite version on film.

Actually, most internet trolls have very high post counts. I've had quite some unpleasant experiences with them. I'd argue that it's the join date that we should look for. Due to spam bans, the majority of trolls don't exist for long on boards.

But hey, here's another thanks to you in the spirit of Thanksgiving!

Holy ****, that 'performance' managed to desecrate the piece quite spectacularly. She didn't even finish the whole lyrics!!

My appreciation, Ando. Your answers are always informative & touch the points that I want. You're such a cultured man!

Hey that's fine, but if you ask around you'll see I'm a respected member here - well, as long as the cheques don't bounce I guess! Join date is a good point, but you'll see mine is 2008 (though it's actually 2011) so that would be an indication too. Finally you could check all my journals in the journals section. When I chose the name there wasn't, I believe, anything like the internet in existence, never mind trolls.

Still, as you say, water under the bridge and I'll wish you an early Happy Christmas! :)

Hey thanks! You too! Man, I have a feeling that I hurt you inside with that 1st post. I've tried to mend it then. See, when I said that join date is a better method, I was trying to imply that I had since looked at your join date and determine that you're quite a decorated member here, because if you were a troll at heart then your account would have been banned somewhere around 2012 ;) The fact that you can post here is enough to disregard my initial hypothesis.

... but jokes aside, if it's true then it can be really harmful. I know it because I'm battling with it... and just achieved a big victory :D

Black hole with no other side. But you gotta see that to end it. :)

Yeah no worries. I just hate when I go out of my way to help someone and end up getting branded a troll. But I guess you weren't to know, and you've accepted that I'm not, so it's all good. Glad you got sorted anyway.

Er... I'm quite into astronomy so... But anyway, let's get past this Christmas and enter a new year clean! We can do it!

Then it'd be my honor if I can get you to answer here in your very next post, because that'd make it your #22222. A number that awesome may not happen again for several years

That resolution is rife with issues.

One, that porn is dirty therefore people who watch it are dirty.

Two, that time itself will change the nature of the mind and subsequent behavior.

And three, there's a problem. :D

If you feel you need porn (hence, the black hole) then, yeah, there's a problem.

Hmm. Sorry, but I already used up this unique post number when I updated my journals. Never even noticed. Oh well. Here's to the next seven years, huh?
