I wouldn't say they stopped "trying" on In Rainbows. To me they just opted for a slightly "pop-ier" sound and it worked out beautifully.

I hope that all the OK Computer haters here at least see the more honest and stripped down production that is evident in In Rainbows. :-) A+

HA HA having fun here I see. I think you could actually group OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac into a trio that are a sub-set of the EMI album period representing a trend in their foray into electronic and digital cyberia.

IHMO the best track out of all three of these albums is "Pyramid Song"..the piano especially...hauntingly beautiful...the song is an epic... and not as unaccessible and unengaging as a lot of Amnesiac can be.

This album was at the top of my wishlist this year. These guys are beautiful geniuses. This is a gorgeous album, but still not my very favorite, that honor still belongs to The Bends.

I think my kids' reaction to In Rainbows says a lot. The first time I played it in the car my normally loud and contentious boys sat completely silent and mesmerized. When I tried to skip a song they started to howl. No skipping allowed.

I have, now regrettably, never listened to a Radiohead album all the way through. The most taste of them I have ever gotten was back when I used to listen to only one song from bands and not albums. I'll come back and edit this post with my thoughts for every album of theirs I finish.

I started with In Rainbows. I was kind of sub-listening until 'Wierd Fishes/Arpeggi' caught me and demanded my attention. Beautiful. From there I was attentive until half way through 'Reckoner' (might of been because I was reading something) 'Mk 1' caught me again. 'Down is the new up' is an experiance. I also liked 'Last Flowers to the Hospital', the rest of it is alright. I'm defenitly going to give this album another listen sometime when I'm more able to appreciate it. For now I'm just glad I have it.

Next, I lsitened to The Bends. The first song caught me immediatly, and I was attentive through most of the album. I connected with The bends much more then In Rainbow. I think I have heard the song "Just" before, which made it sort of less entertaining then the rest of the album. Anyway, I'm now glad that I opened up to Radiohead. Iv'e been wanting to get around to it from the tiem I heard "Karma Police".

15 Step and Bodysnatchers are really the only songs that I liked on this album.
