I can see one reason why whe would do that. Let's say that she signed a contract for a certain number of live concerts, then lost her voice. Looing your voice probably happens frequently among pop stars. What can she do, can't cancell she has a contract to do the performances but she can't sing a note. Lip sync it, hopefully everyone will be happy and she can explain afterwards.

xblcfanx 01-01-2009 12:19 PM

I'm glad she's turning her life around. She had some good tunes a few years ago, they were really catchy.

irreplacable418 01-01-2009 03:49 PM

Well she definitely can't sing...live or in the studio...lol but I have to give it to her--she has an undeniable fan base and used to dance EXTREMELY well....soo...in her prime she was never a "singer" but rather a "performer"....I guess I have to respect that.

MakingMusicLife 01-01-2009 11:01 PM

Thank you irreplacable418. I am a HUGE fan of Britney Spears (:S do I wanna admit that), but I can say she is a hell of a preformer and almost nothing but that. If I was looking for vocals I turn to Celine Dion or Christina Aguilera.

But as for Britney Spears, her "comeback" album has already made a huge hit, as womanizer made it to number one on both itune and the billboard charts. Some will say she appeals to mainstream zombies, and if that's the case, then I'd glady say I'm a mainstream zombie (lol).

I think her Blackout album (which was made in the darkest pit in her life) was actually the best one so far. :S it's strange, but I guess when you're in pain you project the loudest. I loved almost every beat of that album. I'm still trying to get used to Circus, but I don't think it's gonna be another Blackout.

PartisanRanger 01-02-2009 09:50 PM

Since when does throwing your tits around qualify as dancing?

MakingMusicLife 01-04-2009 02:41 AM

lol, I think your confused. She does dance, and that's a little undeniable. Hate her if you want, just be legit with your criticism. lol.

Anteater 01-05-2009 02:29 PM

Eh, who cares about Spears at this point? Her performances over the last year have been lackluster at best and her music, even back during her peak, is only catchy to people who haven't listened to anything but pop and radio R&B, and as a result will tell you its the best crap ever even when it's not.

Also, assuming if she does get her "comeback" rolling with her new album, the second she gets caught doing some kind of stupid sh1t, I can guarantee the media will turn her back into a dartboard and force her into rehab again. Maybe then she'll actually try living a normal life and seek out something real to make her happy.

I'm just trying to figure out why you guys think she's a good performer. Her dancing is certainly nothing special. Most of what she does on-stage is to showcase her body, which I can't really blame her for, but I wouldn't call it a great performance.

que sera 01-08-2009 04:30 PM

I am not a Britney Spears fan, though I remember her being really popular when I was 11 or 12. I do happen to like the song "Lucky" though I wouldn't call it catchy. However, I will admit that I found the two songs, "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me" so catchy that I downloaded the "Blackout" album so I could listen to them. D:

She makes consistent pop music, some of it's good, some of it's bad.

That doesn't sound very consistent to me. :p:

If You Seek Amy.

EDGE 02-01-2009 11:39 PM

Cleverrrr..

The Boy 02-08-2009 06:48 PM

She justs seems to do the same thing over and over, only get more sexual along the way. Christina Aguliera may be boring and pretentious but at least she's growing as an artist.

HolidayG1 02-27-2009 09:51 AM

Hehe Janet is good (well, not really the last few albums).

Britney is the biggest female pop star of the last decade, no doubt. And she has a handful of singles that have been pretty good. But, she is not comparable to her mentor, the Queen of Pop, outside of being her generation's biggest female star- she is not as strong artistically or culturally, nor is she as important an artist/entertainer. But, she never really tried to be, so can't fault her much for that.

Anteater 02-27-2009 09:56 AM

I didn't realize how popular an artist is somehow correlates to musical talent, especially when it comes to pop.

HolidayG1 02-28-2009 09:49 AM

^Oh, it doesn't- not at all. But, there are some mega-fans of an act who think that way- or, that if they're commercially successful in a major way, that it elevates them to greatness or something. Of course, it doesn't.

On the same token, let's not dismiss pop as an art form. There are a select group of individuals who have taken it to a level beyond the instantly gratifying, but disposable form- Spears isn't really one of them, though.

Schizotypic 02-28-2009 12:14 PM

I think the entire process of this sick media machine should be held in court and tried for acts of social demoralization to the mainstream of society, and on a lower level, the mental abuse to a girl who was never to able to grow the ****-up because of them. Brittney Spears, on a seperate note, is physically an adault and needs to take her past and shave it like her hair. I think if she just processed through all of those personal issues, really really thought through them, and then had someone else do the singing and just learned how to play an instrament and wrote lyrics BASED ON THAT STRUGGLE... then, and only then would she be able to redeem the damage she has caused to the world by even being on the top of the chart.
...society today.

vnvnvn2000 03-03-2009 06:34 AM

ohh yeah she's hot. she's really nice. i'll always love her

that one dude 03-03-2009 12:47 PM

I dont understand the hate for this girl... No one has ever considered her an artist. Hell, I don't even think she considers herself an artist, rather an entertainer. Plus, most of her music is producer based, the vocals are really only a minor factor. With that said, "Blackout" is one of the best pop albums I've heard.

I think this Poptimist article over at Pitchfork sums up that album pretty well...

You know, some of her songs in circus showed quite a bit of promise. Unusual You was so out of Britney's usual songs, that it showed a glimmer of hope (not that she had anything to do with that song...or any song other than mmm papi which failed on every level possible.) If I were her, I'd get the guy who helped with Unusual you to do her next album...she might recover a little more.

ledanghaitrung_vt151190 03-04-2009 12:36 AM

everyone thinks that she's a complete.I agree, she's great at singing and i think she made a really good comeback. personally I think she's sorta nudeish.the words of most of her songs are sexually just plain werid....please get a face lift britney. ^^

pahuuuta 03-04-2009 08:29 AM

just because of how she is and the stuff shes into i used to like some of her songs but, im not a big fan of girls shavin their head, lil strange

Feign 03-04-2009 04:18 PM

yes, tyra rocks a wig without shaving her head, so Britney can do the same.

ellehc 03-08-2009 11:51 PM

She's back and she deserved it..

kniff0311 03-10-2009 05:17 PM

i think she sucks she was only marketable as a kid (16-20)so her so called comeback is still b.s. to me

FireInCairo 03-11-2009 02:06 AM

I do not want to **** her, and I wish she would stop her musical propositions.

kniff0311 03-11-2009 02:45 PM

i completely agree. she was once attractive but is now a nasty nuisance

ixtlan22 03-11-2009 03:45 PM

Haha I just saw an add on myspace for a video. It said: "Brittany Dons Bikini!" Oooohhhhh.... exciting. No I didn't watch it. I swear.

glutoro 03-11-2009 09:56 PM

her music doesn't really do it for me.. but in saying that I don't hate her, and I was rooting for her to get back to reality.

PinkCigarette 03-13-2009 08:16 PM

I'm glad she went crazy because her material after has been way better.

Yay for losing your mind!

HolidayG1 03-14-2009 10:23 AM

I'm digging "If U Seek Amy," and trying to understand why her mega-fans are so passionate about her. I have Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, like a decent amount of tracks on it- she's still not one of the great artists of our time, but the music can be enjoyed for what it is.

I agree with you! (:

Shoe 03-21-2009 09:45 PM

Her music is for dancing too. Plain and simple, thats its purpose. We need to stop comparing her to music that is revolutionary and just bust a move haha.
