My inital reaction was overwhelmingly positive. On second listen it's growing on me even more. It's a lot like Estrangement, but a more mature, tighter version of it. Everything works so insanely well, and there's a bit more movement and experimentation in the music. It feels like they're finally comfortable enough to start doing a bit more with their music and not be as constrained by the scene.

Finally comfortable?

Did u ever hear Blood In Our Wells?

I've not heard it yet to be honest cos I ordered the special box thing. If its anything like estrangement then I'll be happy tho I would like another cinematic type Masterpiece seeing as they're on a larger label now with bigger funding.

Awesome band.

Drudkh is one of those bands that I've just gotten enamored with. Currently enjoying Autumn Aurora which has amazing guitar tone and the drumming seems to be always eclectic at the right time. I had to go online to find Microcosmos, and can't wait to get it. Judging on wom, it's a return to form after a couple of disappointing releases.

I think these guys set the bar too high.
The first 3 albums were absolutely godly, Autumn Aurora, in particular had an earthly/organic type of texture to it which remains pretty much unmatched to this day.
I have eagerly waited for and preordered each release since and though they are still a great band by pretty much any measuring stick, probably one of the best going in black metal even today, they seem to try yet they never quite get back to that form IMO.
That being said, Microcosmos has them at least breaking a bit of new ground and was at least an improvement from Estrangement (which almost sounded a bit rehashed and rushed).

Roman Saenko's other projects (Hate Forest, Blood of Kingu, Astrofaes) are all decent as well IMO.
