I love it. Almost, if not, on the same level as (), Takk, and Ageatis Byrjun. I think the band was deciding what direction they wanted to go in on Meo Suo... and Valtari, and found a happy medium between the two sounds on this record. Possibly my favorite of 2013 thus far.

I only downloaded this last night and listened to it for the first time today, and admittedly I have only heard "Takk" by them (must rectify that soon) but this sounded somehow ... harder? More intense than that album. Kind of, not as ambient or relaxed as "Takk" was. Of course, "Takk" may be the exception: as I say, it's the only one of theirs I've heard.

Did anyone else think this to be the case?

At any rate, I won't pass judgement until I've heard it a few more times. Back later!

Yeah, it's definitely heavier. Have just given it a listen through, I felt it was a bit mediocre/drifting up until halfway through the album and then Stormur/Kveikur/Rafstraumur came up, I absolutely loved those three tracks and with them one after the other it really kick started the album. Stormur a bit more progressive and ethereal/mellowed out for this album but brought crashing back with title track. Raf a mix of both and the icing on the cake.

Christ I hate trying to sound sincere when talking about Sigur Ros. Decent album though, i'll just leave it at that.

I absolutely love this record. And I can't wait to see them in November.

Between this one and Valtari, I didn't get as much enjoyment out of this one. I'm just not used to the heavier Sigur Ros. I like the album for what its worth but their ambient sound is what I've come to love with them.

hmmm so are you saying that if I love this album, I won't like their others?

No? I stated my opinion. I just didn't grasp onto their heavy sound as opposed to their ambient sound.

ummm I was just asking because I haven't listened to their other albums and this was the first album I've heard from them. I think that I listened to a single or two from them in the past but I don't recall the sound associated with them so I don't know which album they were on.

I really like their heavy sound so I was wondering maybe I wouldn't like their ambient sound or I might like both who knows. I was just curious.
