I know, its all balls really. I find it adoreable that everyone still has it out for him after all these years though.

I heard some of his new stuff on Youtube, it all sounds great.

haha and the story behind him firing that whiney girl was really funny.

Hmm. What do people think? Is Morrissey more under the umbrella of Indie Pop due to his origins, or is he sufficiently mainstream?

If Morrissey had a choice he'd choose mainstream.
I'd say he had a hardcore, loyal fanbase, bordering on a cult following for him to be mainstream yet.
Although the thought of himself entering the iconic world would appeal to his ego.
His material is far too clever for that to happen in it's entirety though and as many people that love him and/or his material, hate him with equal measure.
Morrissey's solo work will not be appreciated fully for years to come.

Since when are indie-pop and mainstream the only two choices for what he can be? Decca isn't even really an indie label.

Well no - part of the motivation for the question was that Morrissey, at least his early solo albums, were all major label as I understand.

I was agreeing that he's a pop artist but questioning whether it would be accurate to categorize him as indie. Naturally he can be plenty of other things too.

I'll be curious to hear how the Smiths albums sound if/when they get around to remastering them

was?? It only came out on his last album.
Can't wait for his new album, but I was at that show in the Roundhouse that he cancelled after 3 songs T_T worst night of my life.
