Hanson

Ok I know alot of you on here may think I'm about half retarted for loving Hanson but I don't care. Ok so here's how it is. Hanson annoyed most by their #1 hit single "MMMbop"(that's my favorite song btw). After 97 they toured the world and in 1998 their label Mercury fused together with Universeal to creat Island Def Jam records. Island was a rap label and so as Hanson released their 2000 sophmore album "This time Around", the label had little confidence in them therefore they lacked in promoting the band making the album a commercial failure unlike their debut "Middle of Nowhere (1997). In 2001 Hanson started work on their 3rd studio album. How ever their label decided to push the boys into something they're not. How ever the brothers wanted to stay true to their indie 3 car garage rock and roll band roots, but Island wasn't having it. So after Hanson wrote over 100 songs and recorded 80 (which were all turned down by Island) they decided to part ways with the label, in 2003 they formed their own Indie label titled 3CG which is intiails for 3 car garage. On April 20,2004 they released their first album off their own label and their first full length album in 4 YEARS!!!! This album showed a much more mature Hanson as the boys now 19,21,and 23 released Underneath which sounds like a mellow indie/alternative rock album, clearly leaving their MMMbop days behind. Now all 3 Married they just relased their new album "THE WALK " yesturday in the U.S. and still have legions of fans that actually aren't just teenage girls. I think every-one should look past the Hanson they met 10 years ago and see them for what they truely are : Talented and Passionate Artists and Muscians!!!!!. So ya heard me the Walks out in stores now. So go ahead and give Hanson Another Listen!!!!

Nice try, but no.

sleepy jack 07-24-2007 11:59 PM

I really like Penny and Me, and Mmmbop is sick. Underneath is an okay album.

sleepy jack 07-25-2007 12:02 AM

My knowledge of Hanson has certainly expanded in the two years or so since I made that post...

Larkrise 07-25-2007 12:15 AM

I thought I would check out their myspace page to give them the benefit of the doubt. They still sound like they are children. So I checked out some of their lyrics. There is nothing that jumps out at me that is so unique and so different from their previous albums' lyrics. To be honest with you, a guilty pleasure song of mine was once "Weird" off their first or second album.

Sorry but I just don't see where they have matured.

jackhammer 07-25-2007 07:48 PM

---Island was a rap label--
Island was based in Jamaica, primarily for reggae music Circa 1960.

littlemiss22 07-31-2007 01:06 PM

Lateralus1019 08-31-2007 03:05 AM

ArtistInTheAmbulance 09-01-2007 12:35 PM

anticipation 09-01-2007 03:42 PM

my favorite song of theirs is

"hit tha bong, and grab ya nutz boiiii!".

mouseymouse 10-15-2007 09:31 AM

I have to admit to being a closet hanson fan even though I haven't bought one of their cds since the first live album they released. They have matured in their music style but unfortunately they didn't grow with the fans and are writing music they want to write rather than music people want to buy, then wonder why they're not having any commercial success. Also mmmbop's going to haunt them until the day they die, bless 'em. I still love that song though :D

=ladyface= 10-15-2007 11:02 AM

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having that song following me around if I'd done it. :D

Penny & Me was a proper masterpiece though.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 10-15-2007 11:49 PM

I watched a bunch of reruns of SNL and saw them performing mmbop before the oldest one started shaving. Then a while ago they made this guest appearance on Deal or No Deal. They're pretty talented, I must say. They did a little a capella thing and it was good.

Before that though, I thought they had all fallen off the face of the Earth.

ya_ba 12-19-2008 12:30 PM

Yeah... I kinda like them.
They are my guilty pop pleasure.
:D
Also, sorry for necroing D:
