Smash Mouth (yay or neigh)?
 

I'm not exactly sure if you'd classify them as Ska, but I'd say they were at least partly Ska. They have a lot of brass influence in their music. Do you like them or do you think they're too Pop? I find some of their stuff to be good and fun to listen to, but some of it not so good. Overall, though, I think they've made more good music than bad and therefore I like then.

Nay, I don't really like them that much. But they are a decent band with a few good songs.

I don't mind some of it, but a lot of it sounds like i was just made solely to be played on the radio...

I used to like their stuff when I was younger, say 5th and 6th grade maybe but that was a looong time ago. For one I'm not even really into that kind of music at all anymore and They just aren't that good...lol so i vote a NAY hehe ;)

No way Jose! This band annoys me so much. Everytime I hear them on the radio, I have to turn the channel. They don't do anything for me.

Well I like some of their songs (walking on the sun, all star) but the rest of their stuff really pisses me off. I think it's Camps' voice that gets to me, it sounds a little like he's singing through a toilet paper roll or something...which is ok for a few songs but after that i just feel like taking that roll and shoving it where the sun-don't-shine.

Yeah for a bunch of guys who made some great songs and used the fame for good.

Overly commercial. I've heard allstar in so many movies and commercials its pathetic.

If their Ska then their the most watered-down, made-for-the-masses Ska I've ever heard.

I probably listened to 'All Star' at least 10 times a day for a few weeks there in 3rd grade... :rofl:

The two hits aren't that bad. I still find them bearable. The Smashmouth cameo at the end of the otherwise-awesome Rat Race was annoying, though.

I have to agree with the question as to why this would be bumped. I'll admit tho that I was wondering what ever happened to these guys. I just remembered their last song(the shrek soundtrack) LOL

They had some catchy songs.. but that make them have enough talent for me to be compelled to listen to them... other then if they were to pop on the radio.. which I don't listen to often at all.

They were alright but got old real quick. I would say they are a band that you would listen on the radio to kill time. But that's about it for me. They just sound industry manufactured to me.

Smash Mouth was just terrible :laughing: It really was. But I can remember being in the fourth grade and thinking that "All Star" was too awesome. And if you didn't know all the words then you weren't shit. Ah, how young and dumb I was. And with that being said, Smash Mouth pretty much did what it was meant to do- put out a few passable songs that would be played on the radio over and over for a month and then forgotten under a mass of new pop rubbish.

Also as another little side-note, I remember back when "All Star" was first put out, Smash Mouth put on a summer concert on the T.V. and I remember watching it in horror when I heard the lead singer sound absolutely nothing like he did on the radio. I remember thinking -Why does he all of a sudden have a British accent? Another reason these guys blow, haha.

from what I remember they were vaguely like Sugar Ray....who also have slipped into obscurity.

the leader singer was hosting some **** on MTV a couple of years back...cant remember what show it was (not that it matters cuz I remember it being garbage)

Yeah, I used to like them when I was young. Actually in first grade I always listened to them on the bus. But, I really can't stand them now. They're just an overall uninteresting band.
