I love this song so much.

The Monkees - Daydream Believer

One of the best pop songs from the last couple of years:

Mystery Jets - Two doors down

Elvis Costello - (I Dont Want To Go To) Chelsea

I occasionally lose faith in Costello's abilities & then I look at songs like this and am just in awe.
That guitar riff is incredible.

The Jam - Going Underground

A punchy record with punchy vocals. Where has everyone's diction/phrasing gone? I'm sick of slurry Joe Strummer wannabes.

Dusty Springfield - Spooky.

Dusty's producer deserves a knighthood. The heavy emphasis on bass and organ, with these smooth and subtle sax lines that occasionally come through.

Regardless of whether you think the song bad or not if you don't think that this is a work of pop genius then all I can say is that you are either blind , deaf , stupid or have totally failed to grasp the concept of what pop truly is.
I am confident enough in my own judgment and musical knowledge to herald this a pop classic regardless of any sniping from metal kids and especially indie bores who'll try to convince you that just because it's not on a small label or was written by a bunch of producers that it holds no artistic merit. It does and whats more I would be willing to bet that it's gotten far more kids into music than any Smiths album ever did.
So I shall shout it from the rooftops .. THIS IS A FANTASTIC POP RECORD !!!!!

Urban, you got balls. I'm not joking when I say I'd rather buy an album from S Club 7 than a Morrissey solo album.

And hillariously enough, so do most people.

Anyway. Some of my picks.

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams

I liked this enough to get Rumours, and its one of my favorite albums. No joke.

ELO - Mr. Blue Sky

Shut up, you know you like it.

Todd Rundgren - I Saw the Light

If you like 70s pop, you owe it to yourself to get Something/Anything?

Joan Jett - Do You Wanna Touch

Of course I do.

And finally to keep to the old tradition of mentioning this band on every goddamn thread I find.

Yes - Leave It

Most diehard Yes fans hated 90125, but I think they're lying to themselves if they don't see it for what it was, a good pop album. Also, isn't this just the cheesiest music video ever?

But when it truly comes to pop greatness, just about anything from Off the Wall, Thriller or Bad will do.

My first experience of listening to Yes was 90125 and I still think it's a great album even if I prefer their early stuff.

Can you PLEASE tell me how to make a youtube link show the video directly.

I have PMed 100 members of this forum in the last 20 minutes asking this question, haven't gotten a single response.

adidasss 05-04-2008 08:57 AM

You just copy the part of the code after the = and wrap it with youtube tags...

jackhammer 05-04-2008 08:59 AM

ok

Go advanced in your reply. Copy the youtube address and then paste the code after the = sign into the you tube wrap tags and that's it. you do not need the www. etc as the tage will do that for you. so just the letters/numbers AFTER the = sign. dont include the equals sign either.
