I like the Lightning Seed's "You Showed Me". It stayed true to the original, but modernized it. I'd say its perfect.

That Staind cover is new to me and good, but like the Aaron Lewis cover of "Black," I can't call it "pop.

was also covered by Sammy Davis Jr.! The original version was
used as the theme song for the old "Mary Tyler Moore Show":

Tough call, but for me I'd have to go for 'Step On' by The Happy Mondays.

Just because it is such a marker of the Mondays' success and the vibe of that time, yet it's a cover and not much of a development on the original.

It's almost as if John Congos made the track and put it in a time capsule to be used at the right moment late.
