Beyonce Knowles

I've decided it's time to discuss her. Yes she is a mainstream, sexually marketed and recycled musician aimed to empower tweens, but I believe as she has grown older, she's found a style that suits her and is trying to be more innovative and bring a more fresh look to pop music.

I think she has excelled most as a solo artist, because I think being in Destiny's Child the music was merely manufactured to suit young girls needing slumber party music.

I will give a brief review of each of her solo albums, I just need to get a hold of all of her music so I can give an adequate review. While I prepare these, feel free to express your personal opinions on her music. And please can we not get into the way she looks? The Lady Gaga thread was almost ruined because of how people think she has a pan-cake ass. These forums are about music.

Crazy in Love is just about the catchiest thing I've ever heard. Although, I've probably listened to it one twoo many times by now. I'm in detox.

I think she’s a good singer, but I have to say I feel the exact opposite of you as far as her career progression. I enjoyed her music much more when she was with Destiny’s Child, and feel like her solo career started out strong, but her music has gradually become tedious and annoying, in my humble opinion anyway. I think some artists reach a point in their careers when they stop trying so hard because they know they are so popular that people will buy whatever they put out, and I feel like she has reached that point. But in all fairness I haven’t delved into any of her albums and only hear what they play on TV and the radio, so I could be missing some hidden jem I suppose.

She does hail from Houston, Texas, my hometown. I happened to be eating at the same restaurant as her a year or so ago when she was in town during the holidays. Jay Z was there too. Sitting out in the general seating area with the rest of the patrons, with only one guy guarding the table. For some reason I would have thought they’d have swarms of body guards surrounding them. Didn’t talk to them (as I didn’t really have any interest to, and I would never think to bother someone having a meal with their family), but watched as person after person tried to get to their table only to be turned away. Made me realize though how much it must suck to be a celebrity sometimes…you can’t even have a meal without people harassing you.

She bugs the hell out of me lately.
Changing her name to "Sasha Fierce" is just the beginning. She knows she's hot and it seems that's all she's focusing on. now.

Ugh. She just isn't right to me.

Isn't Sasha Fierce supposed to be her attempt at a concept type of album where she focuses on her alter ego which is the more cockier sexually confident side. Idk I haven't listened to the album in full but that's just what I gathered from some of the singles.

Your main problem with her solo albums is that you have only heard the material that is played on the TV and the Radio.
I don't recall if B-Day was her first solo or not but that one was the best imo. She took the idea from her bf Jay to have a live band back her vocals for an entire album but instead she decided to make it an all female band and that's why I love the track "Deja Vu" so much. I agree with Vanilla that her solo material is so much better than with Destinys Child.

I have to admit i do see her as a female Bono, in that she wants to be seen as a force in all sorts of entertainment, and she clearly loves herself.

I think there's far worse pop singers out there than her though, and Single Ladies is one of the catchiest songs i've heard in the last year.

I'll give it to her, I love her songs. But I can't stand her as a person. She just has something about her that irks me a bit and I wish I knew what it was.

Beyonce makes me sick.

I like some of her songs but I cringe when I hear her name. Something about her just makes me angry.

I think her sex appeal has been completely blown out of proportion.

I mean I wouldn't kick her out of bed , but she isn't THAT great.

She's not bad at making pop records though, although I wonder just how much say she has in them.

Lol. Maybe she just makes us women folk shudder a little.
