You rule. But I usually see you listening to proper music.
So... explain?

I listen to all kinds of music. What's proper music?

Haha, well whenever I read the what are you listening now, last bought etc. topics, I seem to like your taste. It told you that before :)

The fact that this thread and the Justin Bieber thread have probably been the 2 most posted in threads dedicated to one artist on the entire forum over the past few months makes me sad.

from now on, I'll just assume that the TLDR of any Urban post is

"forum's gone to shit"

Top 40 is not not proper music. It's just music devoid of any intellectual or artisitic content. But I do love some of Top 40 now. I loved all Top 40 in the 80s.

The top 40 exists to make money which is the whole point of mainstream music. Commercial imperative of an artist is more important than the actual talent but despite all this I can not help liking some of the songs. They are catchy, nice to dance to as djchameleon says and that is why they sell and are so popular.

I don't agree with your statement that they lack artistic content.

If you look at the Top 40 from the past decades, they came from some very good artists but were also catchy songs and that's why they became popular.

Radioplay tied in with being catchy.

One thing I don't like about how they choose singles is that I will listen to the full album and hear way better songs that SHOULD be on the radio but they never use those as singles.
