You might like this album, then (unless you have already listened to it). Came out this year...

Funny thing is, looking at the full music spectrum, they're not all that musically different, really. At least, I always seen 'Grunge' bands as generic hard rock bands with darker themes.

Same instrumentation, same structure, very very similar rhythms, emphasis on guitar solos placed in boxed areas, heavy heavy emphasis on powerful very clear vocals. Perhaps Grunge has the guitars tuned down, and occasionally fast/punky elements. But, that's it, it's as poppy, and commercial as Hell.

In fact, I'd say the grunge music was equally shallowly commercial and fashionable. Even if Kurt Cobain pretended not, but he was very very insecure about his legitimacy. I'd say though that 90s MTV alterna-attitude was glam as ****, just in a more ironic way.

I'm going to agree with that.

Although some of the 90's alternative stuff was like this, heading straight for stadium rock:

(That's an awesome song by the way!)

I wouldn't consider myself a "grunge" fan. I barely recognize it as a genre. It's just that I tend to really love a couple of bands from that time and movement. Alice in Chains and Nirvana are always gonna hold a place in my heart.

That said, regarding the argument earlier in this thread, since when did music taste become objective, eh?

Sadly, ever since this was written: Singers who can’t sing | inflammatoryremarks

I don't get how people can get so worked up over whether people agree with their taste or not.

Oh, God, how can anyone listen to Lou Reed and enjoy it? The man is one of the worst singers of all time. Do I really have to say why? Listen to him and you will know pain. Why can’t anyone just come out and admit it? Why does everyone pretend he is some sort of musician? He’s not. He is the most pretentious sack of crap that ever lived, and he proved it by marrying Laurie Anderson, who’s another one of those singers who just talks and makes noise.
see, it won't affect him whether or not people like him or not.

LMFAO and Bieber are two of the greatest things to happen to pop music, people need to get off their high horses and give credit where it's due.

Unless this is a joke, which I'm hoping it is, then explain.

And if giving them no credit means I'm up on my high horse, I'd rather stay there, the view's nicer.

Even talking pop culture, I don't see how you can substantiate that claim. Even in pop culture this decade, it would be hard to support.
