I've never had a big interest in music videos unless they either told a story or they showed the band playing. As for having sex dominated videos I think it really shows a lack of real creativity, as it's almost the norm in mainstream music videos to have a sexual theme of some sort. I think they should be pushing creative boundaries with music videos and seeing what they can come up with rather than producing more commercially safe but less original sexual ones to be honest.

I'd say in the 80's people like Madonna did this porno thing already, sex sells.

Now everybody knows sex sells it's a bit passe but accepted.

I would say Aguillera, and Britney had a Porn off with outfits a few years ago, now Rhianna is into it and so these are just the big mainstreams and the rest follow in time.

Things like Hannah Montanna (Miley Cyrus)- Walt Disney - has always promoted the sexualisation of children.

If you showed your ankle and went on the street at the beggining of the 1900's you'd probably be told you'd be raped.

But yes I think your conclusion for your essay should be a YES because the mainstream companies promote their top stars in fishnets, camel toe leatards, heavy makeup and wiggly butt busting rap belly dances just slap flesh across our tired TV sets.

Lady Ga Ga (huge kiddy fanbase) used to be a stripper. Qualified for the job!

It's actually a Jewish agenda as most of the American media is run by them, and no i'm not anti wotever it is, but i am totally against the sexualisation of children in society and promoting sexuality to youngsters, infants etc.

The spice girls did this really well. Was it really 'Girl Power'?

Then again I love Indie bands that get old grannys to perform their songs. Maybe that's sick too.

For all that, I was interested in what you'd wrote up until that point. I think you were a bit narrow minded about the historical aspect, though. You have a reasonable point about the whole music industry marketing the sex side more than the music. Bieber is being promoted all over the place: on one site I saw a banner ad saying "could you be Justin's dream girl? Find out now!" This is obviously wrong: teenage girls are going to start trying to change their personality to try and appeal to someone they'll never meet.

In the 80s, the music videos were more suggestive sexually. Fun. "Lets get physical", "Sweet Emotion" to name a few. For the last probably 15 years, it has been stepped up big time. Especially in Rap/Hip Hop and RNB. Even with all the skin flashing, music videos to me, are not sexy.
