Ah yes, this is my favorite thread here, the one where Surell got me into Animal Collective. And by extension, a bunch of other bands.

Honestly I think there's still a lot of pop out there that's innovative and engaging... that's just not the stuff that makes the Top 40. There are well-documented research studies that have been done to show that the top songs in the country are becoming more and more homogenized every year.

I heard Pop of today is made with corn syrup, which isn't actually good for you. Whilst Pop of yesteryear was made with real cane sugar. There was even a time they even added cocaine to Coca Cola, believe it or not ... Man right there shows you Pop of today can't live up to Pop of yesteryears.

The 90s had artistic depth and edginess to it when it came to pop music? Like The Spice Girls or Mariah Carey?

Pop music is probably in it's most interesting stage atm with all the influence from artists like Sophie, Charli XCX, Playboi Carti, Young Thug, Arca, Bad Bunny, I could go on.

There's just so much happening in the mainstream and some of it pushes boundaries on what pop music even is while others stretch the imagination of what their genre was formerly limited by.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
