Elvis Peace In The Valley

This has to be one of the all time classic gospel songs of all time. I think I might even become closer to God after hearing this song by Elvis.
Who here think this is one of the Kings finest moments?

I am not sure comparing Elvis to God is a good idea. Some people would be pissed to hear that.

Why he has the purest voice of anyone who ever walked on the earth.......

Are you sure it wasn't Johnny Cash...

Surell 09-27-2014 12:29 AM

I think it was Brian Wilson but there is no pure human so it must be an animal or something

Neither Johnny Cash nor Brian Wilson have the pure voice sound of Elvis. Brian Wilson was a much better song writer and backed by the other members of the band offered nice harmonies........

Upon looking this up, I see Cash covered it.

I have only ever heard Cash's version of it. So I thought it was his tune to begin with.

The tune is a gospel song written back in 1937 and has been done by numerous artists, but none more pure then Elvis..............

Praise The Lord!

I remember this one, "Peace In The Valley" by Elvis. Although I haven't heard it for years, it's clear in my head. Such a beautiful, dignified, carefully reverent delivery, supported by his supremely generous voice. Such a manly sound, yet so soft and gentle, so richly velvet, his voice pours out with a slowly unforced profusion. Elvis really feels this song. His melancholy gravitas, clear diction, and almost languid phrasing give a sermon like solemnity to this piece.
God bless y'all.

Elvis, backed by the wonderful Jordanaires recorded what I consider the best version of this gospel song. Elvis is an under rated singer and gospel really showed his voice at it's best.

The only Grammy awards Elvis ever won were for his gospel music. He grew up with that music, and usually sang it backstage with friends before concerts. It is truly inspirational and despite his tragic last years, he had a strong faith, and it shows in these magnificent records.
