Pink Floyd's first two albums ("The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and "A Saucerful of Secrets") are just perfect. It's the kind of brilliant and inspired music that I can overlook that I'm not much of a fan of their later stuff. So, my vote goes to them just based on those two albums, although I like The Doors very much. They were one of my favorite bands once upon a time.

Should have been Floyd versus King Crimson.

That's just ridiculous.

First off, the idea that a band only has lasting popularity because their frontman died is absolutely ludicrous. Do you have any idea what the average stastics are for dead rock musicians?

I mean, it's not like you see INXS and Blind Melon make it onto greatest rock bands/greatest rock albums lists just because they have dead frontmen. So no, you can't pin the band's entire legacy on that. Don't be an idiot.

The Doors definetly just prefer thier music while Pink Floyd bore me most of the time.

Styx was crappy generic 80's rock. The Doors were one of a kind when they showed up on the scene. I know it was just an example, but Styx? Come now. That was offensive.

I personally think Styx are underrated, their music is cheesy but in a good way.

To be fair they had a lot of hits, and I actually think they're a very solid singles band and had some pretty good albums in the 70s.

And c'mon, no love for Mr. Roboto?

That's just my opinion, am I not entitled to one?
I find the Doors a very polarizing band you either love them or hate them and I fall into the the latter. I just think Morrison is put up on this pedastool as a great American poet blah blah when he was just a mediocre hack in my opinion.

I like Tool so I'll refrain from bringing Maynard James Keenan into this but someone else surely will.

The Doors are a better Rock band by a long shot. In my opinion "Wish You Were Here" & "Dark Side Of The Moon" are alright but nothing else by Pink Floyd comes near the quality of anything done by The Doors.

Pink Floyd. The Doors aren't even in the same realm as The Floyd
