pink floyd.. innovative, zany, passionate and intricate. they pushed the boundaries with what they did. and be as consistent as they have for as long as they have takes something. the doors were good but really nothing special to me.

Pink Floyd were the better musicians...

Better guitarist, Waters was a great bassist. Mason solid drummer and both bands had great keyboard players. Tho wright used synth as well =/

pink floyd for sure. not because of their skill or any reason like that, i just prefer them to the doors.

Not sure if it even makes much sense to compare the two really: One basically set out as a blues based outfit that helped create a psychedelic musical environment that the other thrived and grew from. Both were groundbreaking and awesome, and while both made music that could loosely be described as psychedelic, it's arguable that they were playing on the same field, especially as the Floyd had a much longer / later career, allowing for more development and growth.

Maybe a better question would be - who was the greater psychedelic poet: Syd Barret or Jim Morrison?

Densmore >>> Mason
Manzerek > Wright
Krieger < Gilmour

I cant really compare bassists, since The Doors didnt have one, but i would consider them to be the more skilled musicians. Either way, i still prefer Pink Floyd and i consider them the greater band, so i vote for them.

Agreed. Though if i had to choose, i would say Floyd. Morrison's lyrics kick ass, and Gilmour's solos are awesome.

I'm with you on that one. Gilmour's solos are unique, and quite good despite the criticism you hear about how he favors the major scale during solos. I feel that the scales you play don't matter, it's all about how it sounds, and his solos sound awesome.
