The Pink Fairies

Since i`ve been here i`ve never seen this band mentioned once.
Which is a shame given how many 'classic rock' kids there are around here.

They are the kind of missing link between Pink Floyd & Motorhead (Guitarist Larry Wallis was a founding member of Motorhead) .Really heavy riffs with traces of psychadelia. A bit like Hawkwind but with shorter more direct songs , and definetly one of the bands that became an influence on punk.
Go check out these 2 albums , you won`t be disappointed.

Laces Out Dan! 06-03-2006 01:56 PM

Could you upload an album?

boo boo 06-03-2006 01:57 PM

Urban = Potential prunk rocker?

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 01:58 PM

I have Never Neverland I can do , although my copy of Kings Of Oblivion is a really ****ty 10 year old copied tape so I can`t do that one.

Laces Out Dan! 06-03-2006 01:59 PM

Ok that would be cool

explosions-in-my-pants 06-03-2006 01:59 PM

Although your King Crimson marathon thing has interested me , i`ve only heard their first album.

Says the Hawkwind fan. ;)

I certainly need to continue with my Crimson reviews, when i can find the time.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 02:05 PM

They`re a psychadelia band :p:

boo boo 06-03-2006 02:07 PM

They're both... Like Pink Floyd.

Warrior On The Edge Of Time is quite prog i'd say.

"And the wizard blew his horn"

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 02:09 PM

Warrior On The Edge Of Time is one of their most hated albums.

Or at least it was until the 80s when they got even worse.

boo boo 06-03-2006 02:12 PM

Oh c'mon.... I think Warrior On The Edge Of Time is awesome, i'd say it's their best studio album. :(

X In Search Of Space and Hall Of The Mountain Grill are more popular though.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 02:14 PM

I think it`s alright personally. But then again I must be the only person who likes their P.X.R.5 album

I was just shocked at how hated it was amongst long time Hawkwind fans

boo boo 06-03-2006 02:21 PM

Well, i don't really associate myself with long term or purist fans... I'm a neutral kind of fan, no matter what band it is, i'm not a guy who posts all day on fansites or anything like that.

For example... Meddle is one of the least liked Floyd albums, and hell, thats one of my personal favorites.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 02:22 PM

Meddle is my favourite Pink Floyd album*

*Not counting the Barrett stuff

boo boo 06-03-2006 02:23 PM

What about Animals?

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 02:24 PM

I have a soft spot for that one

First Pink Floyd album I ever owned apart from Piper

I even made a thread about it a while back

boo boo 06-03-2006 02:26 PM

I remember.

boo boo 06-03-2006 05:22 PM

:)

Downloading now, i know we have very different tastes, but it hasn't stopped me from enjoying many of the albums you have recomended so far.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 05:43 PM

Too be fair we only disagree about crap bands :p:

boo boo 06-03-2006 05:57 PM

And The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones debacle?? How dare you forget that? :nono:

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-03-2006 06:02 PM

Debacle?

It`s not my fault you were woefully misguided

boo boo 06-03-2006 06:17 PM

I wasn't misguided.... It was just a standard arguement, tis all.

I have been in many arguements with many people, by comparison our little clashe's of different opinions were pretty friendly, that's saying a lot considering the people i normally get into arguements with.

Great, great band, Never Never Land is awsome, 'Do It' really pulls you in at the start.

RockGuitar101 09-25-2008 04:12 PM

Ok ok ok ok, I think I'll move on, not a Pink fan

Hank Rollins did a pretty decent cover of it.

I think it was one of the first things he recorded after Black Flag broke up.

Dr_Rez 09-25-2008 05:32 PM

Can not find albums anywhere.

Edit: Never mind, both found.

Hank=Henry? Sounds cool, I'm not a huge Black Flag fan, but I'll check it out.

boo boo 06-30-2010 09:38 PM

Bringing this one back from the dead.

Been listening to Never Never Land, fantastic album. It's like the other Pink band if they went hard rock.

Also just a minor request to the mods but this should be moved to the psychedelic forum.

Seltzer 06-30-2010 11:58 PM

Done.

And I've been listening to Kings of Oblivion lately, and what a great album it is. Love the band name too :p:
