The first Rush album I heard was All The World's A Stage. That was in 1976 and I was 13. Neil's style of playing was very groundbreaking at the time much like EVH's guitar style would be a couple of years later.

Even the drummer from converge seems to me to be more talented. And don't get me started on zach hill(hella, the bygones, the ladies! Death grips) like I said Neil doesn't seem to me to be doing anything that special. So what is it that I am not hearing? Please tell me. The statement "Neil Peart is the best drummer" has left me perplexed for years.

Man I complete disagree with you here. Neil Peart is such an incredible drummer. I have many friends who are drummers who get so much inspiration from Peart. Whenever you listen to the songs he's on you just feel the power behind his drumming. Plus like other people mentioned, he's a showman. He can play the hell out of his drum set and get the crowd going.

Fair question 'Thereisnohappyhere'. I would say because his playing NEVER overshadows the SONG, as great a drummer as he is. Neil has an uncanny ability to write great drum fills within the confines of the song without taking anything away from Geddy or Alex's contributions. Frankly, that's not easy to do. I know, I'm a myself!
