I suppose he should have said "most people", but yeah, basically. If you were/are interested, at all, in having a proper conversation/debate about the current state of prog (not only the largely I assume unknowns on your label) then I would have a lot more respect for you. But you're discounting all the major prog bands, from Dream Theater to Spock and from Arena to Millenium without even discussing them. It seems that in your world the only new prog is what you get sent, and that is just plain loopy.

The genre of progressive rock laid out in the 70's has fallen completely out of the popular consciousness, we can agree on that?
Something happened, and I do think it is worthy of discussion. Why not here? I am interested in what others think. Many of the artists we work with have similar dissent.
By the way, Spock's beard guys have worked with guys from our label.

If I walk down the street today and ask 100 people if they have heard of Spock's Beard, I would be lucky to find one person who has. No doubt about this.
Now in 1975 if I did the same for any number of prog bands from YES to ELP to Pink Floyd to Tull etc… it would be hard to find someone who had not heard of them.
As far as Spock's, we have worked with some of those guys.

Spock's is a minnow also in the greater scope of music that the popular culture embraces.
The youth culture is going to electronica shows, not Spock's or other prog acts that people think are so popular.
I recently went to see a modern prog band that you would think is huge if you read internet forums and they couldn't fill 50 seats. It was a decent show but it wasn't Gentle Giant in 1975.
