Jim was more than just a twat... sounds like a horrible junkie indeed. I don't see why its glorified so much with him yet everyone is allowed to say bad things about Pete Docherty.

The Doors music ruled though. 'The Cars Hiss by my window' still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

The doors were awsome. But hatemonger is a little in the right. From what I've read most accounts of Morrison after he became ultra famous make him out to be a womanizing drug abusing drunken jerk. But That dosnt change the fact that he was an incrredible lyricist and singer. But besides Morrison I think Manzarek is way to often overlooked as the backbone of the doors. Morrison put a wonderful face on a wonderful band But Manzarek is one of the best(if not the best) keyboard players I have ever heard. And without his signiture key work in almost all doors songs the band would never have made it as far as they did. After all it was manzarek who helped found the doors. But yea, the Doors were an amaaaazing band. I love House of the rising sun, crystal ship, break on through, people are strange, whiskey bar. and so many others.

That pretty much sums up everything i`ve ever thought about the Doors, Manzarek doesn`t get anywhere near the amount of credit he should for the success of the Doors.

Doesn't that always happen though? Every frontman and lead singer gets hailed as the man behind the whole thing.

Well look at Coldplay (Although to be fair thats not something i`d want to do)
I don`t think i`ve ever met anyone who knows the names of the other 3 members.

Hehe, so true, its all to do with looks and positioning. That's why no-one ever focuses on the drummer. John was a damn good drummer too.

i saw the doors movie by oliver stone-(legend) and i see where this 'urban hatemonger' is comin from, but i dont agree with him, i still think jim morrison was a legend.

(btw, if ur a fan of the doors, watch oliver stone's movie, its pretty kickass)

I think it's the bassist that no-one really gives a **** about in bands, the drummer is 2nd ranked. :D When I see the strokes I always focused on the Alburt Hammond Jr and not the frountman, I think it differs with every band.

At the risk of being a tad unpopular - I always find the doors bore the arse off me after about 4 songs...
