"You're obviously too young to remember the good old days before MTV (there's a delete button for a reason, use it if you make a typo) came along and destroyed the whole industry." now, sentence structure is a whole other lesson, but maybe we should take it in baby steps. |
Rolling Stone and the media did exploit punk, which is why we have pop punk today...They praised punk for being a alternative to corperate rock, but they helped turn punk into just that, corperate rock, the mainstream carnation of punk as we know it today (aka pop punk) embodys everything that punk originaly stood against in the first place.

To these "pop punk" bands that i call pop rock. They sound alike. |
In my opion,
1. Punk music died the moment it started to get recornised. It got raped to death and its deseased corpse is still being raped 2. For the bit that said something about how everything has been made mainstream, well thats one of the points behind punk that this wasnt supposed to happen, but yet the mainstream industry got its hands on it (thats how it died, see my first statement) 3. Punk is about the music, the additude AND the clothing 4. Pop punk is a condradiction, it wouldnt really have anything to do with being called punk, more just punk influenced rock I think thats about it P.S. I love the irony that, the people from the start were saying how punk was dead and then comes along a guy called Alexisonfire, and he argues that its not dead and stuff. But isnt Alex Is On Fire a punk influenced rock/Screamo band? |

Punk is about clothing you moron. And i dont see how my name has anything to do with my opinion. Its not dead its underground. EDIT: wait...when i had a poison the well avatar and underoath lyrics in my signature my opinion was more valid just because i had the misfits in my name? |
If punk really was more about the attitude and clothing than the music, then fuck it. I like the music, but I'll dress and think however I want to.

How can you say Punk has been killed if it is not open to the mainstream anyway? Surely that if less and less people listen to Punk the more Punk that it is? How can you be so selfish as to say that the mainstream can't listen to Punk? Didn't bands like Nirvana, whom are Gods of Punk, take to the mainstream and get a No.1 Billboard album with Nevermind? I doubt that those who like Good Charlotte and bands like that will like the 'real' punk bands anyway. They will probably stay in that 'Poppy-punk' demographic that so many of us despise...

So shutup and educate yourself and dont speak. Nirvana gods of punk? Christ kid. |
New Green day Is killing punk(with the help of other ****ty bands) but keep this in mind, The early years(89' to 97') are Punk. Sure they sold out a few times in those years but so did the Ramones, the clash and the sex pistols. They are personally,my favorite band but they are killing punk with there eye shadow and dumb**** ties and ****.

You aren't that sensitive come to think of it. You are rather mean and dark. Go listen to Radiohead and shut up. |

I have a better idea, I'll listen to Radiohead, and keep posting, that way I will still have the pleasure of making everyone's life on this forum more meaningful by gracing them with my presence. |

How is making off topic posts almost everytime you post make your presence better than anyone's? It was funny at first but the whole act is getting rather annoying. You are a close-minded loser. If you don't want to be on here then quit being a bitch about it and leave no one will miss you. |

And why in God's name did you quote my text in yellow? |

But you gotta listen to Suicidal Tendencies or Black Flag Anyone watch the movie Repo man? Its old and it has all the punk classics. |
I still stand by my original argument. And what are you talking about Nirvana aren't Punk? I'm going to go all fanboy here and say that you can shut up, because Nirvana did so much for Punk and they are still the best Punk band to have ever lived. You Punk fans just hate to see a band become popular by the mainstream, and when it does you disown them and then start talking about how you hate them. Immature.

Nirvana didn't do jack for punk. Dead Kennedys, Ramones, and The New York Dolls did a lot for punk. Quit trying to sound like a know-it-all and accept the fact that you are wrong. Nirvana was grunge, is grunge, and will always be grunge. And most of the time when a band goes mainstream they lose their selves in the hype created for them. SOAD is a prime example. So is Green Day. You are wrong end of story. |
