The Punk Education Thread

I'm new to posting here and hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but there were quite a few acts in the early Canadian scene that deserve mention in a Punk Education thread. I just posted part 1 of an interview I did with Dave Rave (Shakers, Teenage Head) and Cups von Helm (American Devices) at my punk retrospective blog ...those are just a couple of the many bands from Canada that still impact the punk scene. The Last Words and The Saints were also rather notable. The Saints in particular i enjoy.

naw, that limits things to just one scene, and therefore limits one from discovering so much great music.

Punk has a "Do it Yourself" ethic that says anyone who likes music should pick up instruments and start a band. Other forms of rock n roll are highly commercial, and most punk is anti commercial/capitalism. Punk is also more aggressive and progressive than rock n roll, which makes it more shocking. I personally think punk is similar to what rock n roll used to be.

That is just my opinion.
