i'm sure some people feel the same way as you do, because there seems to be a lot of people complaining about it. personally, I have no idea why people are so concerned about what other people do. who gives a crap if they dress in what you consider a "punk" fashion. let them do what they want, you do what you want. also, there is no way that "true punk" music can be ruined by a large number of people who dress like "punks" and don't listen to "punk" music, so please stop using that argument.

Punk is a style of music, not a style of dress.

thats becoming arguable thrice. to everybody except the punks themselves, there is a distinguishing dress sense of punks. you havnt noticed the labelling and stuff of a lot of people on here even. jibber knows what he's talking about. who cares what other people do/think or say? do what you want dress how you want and disregard if "posers" are stealing the stereotypical shirt and tie

ok, just realized that my post wasn't really all that clear. i actually agree with thrice, in that there is no such thing as a "punk" style of dress, hence the quotation marks in my post whenever i labeled something as "punk", to indicate that the label of "punk" as a style of dress really has no connection to the music other than happening to share the same name, it's simpy a marketing tool that many corporations use to attract people to their merchandise. labeling merchandise as "punk" is completely trivial and yes some people are attracted to it, and others (such as myself) disregard the label and simply look at things for what they are. and just as a short note, i'm a girl.

right. well. on reading that short note, i owe you an apology. i assumed incorrectly and im sorry. but you have some good points.
as a short note of my own, in my first reply to this thread i sound very arrogant. theres asupposed to be a question mark after "on here even" ????
it appears as though i am attacking thrice which i had no intention of do

Anybody that thinks any article of clothing, that isn't sporting either a band logo, etc. is punk is, to put it crassly, a moron. To define punk by clothes is wrong, but I can see the rationale for band logos though. On the subject of poser punk wear, is it just me or are ****ies the ugliest pants ever? Seriously, the only people who should wear those by choice should be receiving a social security check everymonth too.

i just hate it when people call themselves "punk". just because u wear a tie or a shirt from a thrift store doesnt mean ur punk. it just means u think thats cool u renobs.
