Anyone Know what Ska is anymore?

xxxIs there any ska fans out there anymore. I cant beleive how many people don't even know what it is!

Fuzz 09-24-2004 09:28 AM

If anyone is into Ska please let me know because I have doubts as to if its actually well known anywhere anymore! By the way if anyone is in the Adams/York County area of Pennsylvania keep your eyes open in the next year or so for Reel Camels Dont Smoke. Were trying to bring back the SkaCore! Besides its so fun to beable to watch people dance and have fun to music you're actually playing.

Yes I do and ska music rocks not many people do kow what it is and thats sad Im not a big ska fan I only lisen to reel big fish.

FlobbyWaldo 09-24-2004 10:41 PM

Yeah, I can remember a few ska bands like Mighty Bosstones, RBF, and Cutaway. I cant remember anymore bands so ska is a dying genre to me exept for Mighty Bosstones still kicks ****in ass.

So, overall, you are one of the very few people under 20 that still listens to ska.

FlobbyWaldo 09-24-2004 10:41 PM

that i know

WeCameToRock 09-25-2004 04:26 PM

I think ska is still kickin' in the new millenium. Ever since Two Tone there's been a new indie ska label practically every few months. Just look at the warped tour, its pretty mainstream and usually its got tons of people skanking to a few ska bands, whether it be RBF, Mad Caddies, Big D, Planet Smashers, whatever. Personally, I'm all about the baggy trousers. Madness baby.

Yellow Card 09-26-2004 10:35 PM

hey, i know what you mean when you say that no one knows what ska is anymore, I love ska, my favaourite band would be 'Less Then Jake' they are so rad.

Fuzz 09-28-2004 02:08 PM

Thanks guys for letting me know that there are still a few people who are rockin it to ska! If anyone is planning on hitting up some shows check out REEL CAMELS DONT SMOKE! RCDS is totallt rockin and plans to hit the scene sometime next year!

shortlivedglory 11-15-2004 03:48 PM

Dead Wrong!!!!

you people are stupid. ska is alive and well. bands like I Voted For Kodos, You and What Army, and East Broadway are HUGE not only in their local areas but around the country. ska isn't dead at all. or even dying for that matter. its just that there are too many people buying that mainstream mind**** crap and nobody cares about the real talent anymore.

Oi_To_The_World 11-15-2004 03:54 PM

im assuming when someone says a genre is "dead" they mean that it is not making mainstream-kinda money. i dont see how people wouldnt care about real talent, its just that we differ in opinions about talent

All_Nite_Dinah 11-15-2004 04:03 PM

Ska has never really been dead. Dont buy into that wave bull**** you always hear. Real ska is alive and well. Most people are just to lazy to look for anything not being fed to them.

Invisible Spider 11-16-2004 02:33 AM

I'm only 16 and i know what ska is...only a dumb minded idiot wouldn't know what ska is, that's if they don't sit in front of the tv all day listening to MTV tell them whats cool in today's music scene... :finger:

swingkids. 11-19-2004 10:42 AM

The only SKA band that I listen to is less than jake but there not real ska.
The album that I have is Borders and Boundaries (Their earlier album) Since that album i heard that they have dropped they're "ska roots."

Thrice 11-19-2004 02:13 PM

I have LTJ cd, but I rarely listen to it. I like their more pop/ mainstream stuff.

All_Nite_Dinah 11-19-2004 02:53 PM
