To paraphrase what some journo said about the Boomtown Rats...
'They came over from Ireland , supported The Clash & we all laughed' |
New Wave and punk are pretty much interchangeable. "New Wave" was just the media friendly word used to desribe punk bands so they would become more recognized, since the term "punk" had been so stigmatized so that it was almost impossible for any 'punk' band to get any sort of mainstream recognition.

It's on a 70's Punk mix thing I got, it's a great track. I didn't realize Punk was goin back to then, but Stooges had I Wanna Be Your Dog in '69 , I think, and there was some Proto Punk stuff too. But yeah, the 60's stuff sounds cool, I need to check it out soon.

Check out "Bad Girl" by The Zakary Thaks, and "The Blackout of Gretely" by Gonn. Those are two of my favorite 60's punk songs.
|
"Chinese Takeaway" by The Addicts is just about the catchiest punk song I can think of.

I do love My Generation. I like the stutter, it's quite a good characterization for the song by Daltrey.
