The Clash Live: Revolution Rock
Dont know if anyone has seen this yet but there is some great live footage of the band.

Great Stuff, A must see.

Honestly I wasn't that thrilled with it. The DVD is mono sound and Tommy Gun is passed off as a live performance when it's really not.
Still waiting for a great live release...Shea Stadium? :bonkhead: |
Shea Stadium isn't that great , it's more for historical interest rather than quality. By the time they recorded it Topper Headon was gone , the band were barely speaking to each other and it sounds like they were just going through the motions.
Even Strummer himself said they never played a good gig after Headon left the band. Plus The Clash aren't really suited to huge echoy stadiums. If you want Clash live gigs you'd be better off finding the bootlegs for DeMontfort Hall 77 , Lyceum 79 or Bonds 81. |
Yes I know. I wasn't trying to imply that Shea was great but I couldn't find the proper smiley to make my point. :(
But yes I love my Amsterdam and Bonds bootlegs :) |
You probably wont find a better live Clash album released than From Here to Eternity and Shea Stadium as far as quality goes.
For anything better, you'll have to chck the bootlegs. |
A mate of mine (well, more like a musical guru) was at the Lyceum '79 gig - says it was probably the best he's ever been to. I should probably hunt down the bootleg sometime.
As for the Clash live, I've never heard any live recordings myself, but I've heard they were very hyperactive (particularly early on in the sets - according to Johnny Rotten they used to have this tendency to exhaust themselves with the opening numbers). Anyway, my point is, I'll keep an eye peeled for this album. |

It was recorded professionally and bits of it were used for the Rude Boy movie so it's really good quality too. In fact why it's never been released officially is a mystery to me. |
^^Can I get some of that action too please?
