swim 09-09-2006 11:44 AM

They released one good album, Unknown Road. It's effin great but all their other stuff is pretty boring.

sleepy jack 09-09-2006 11:55 AM

JoetheInvincible 09-14-2006 05:25 PM

Im not a big fan of pennywise. They are really repetitive

Donnie Drunko 09-18-2006 10:18 PM

A big load of tossers, if you ask me

Alo 09-19-2006 01:11 AM

Hahaha, that's great.

half_baked87 09-22-2006 11:21 AM

they're a talented band, they know their sound. i still like them but i can't listen to more than 3 songs at a time. a little variety would be interesting, if a million anarkee punx didn't start screaming sellout

warrant 10-18-2006 07:02 AM

pennywise

Just cant get enough of them they are hell good the best album is land of the free

MURDER JUNKIE 10-18-2006 08:07 AM

Best album is the self titled

"Free your mind, Hide your fear, Don't look down, don't turn around, Pennywise is here"

wasifkt 10-24-2006 02:46 AM

yo

man pennywise is cool
and ma fav songs are greed and fight it

tjtech12 04-29-2007 12:37 PM

i just got "Full-Circle". it ROCKS!!! i'm now starting to get into all the bands that influenced the bands that got me into punk rock (Green Day, and later Rise Against) tracks 3, 6, and 9 all have similar intros, but they still kick ass. the lyrics are simple, but not unintelligent. i'm especially digging the classic rock guitar solos, similar to the ones played by the abovementioned bands, but faster. i can't yet tell which songs i like best, although they're all kickass. it even came with a list of their albums up until 2005. which one should i get next?

KRUGER 04-30-2007 10:46 AM

s/t id boss. no reason why and bro hymn!!

MURDER JUNKIE 04-30-2007 10:50 AM

You should get some Bad Religion, Pennywise basically stole everything they have ever done

655321 04-30-2007 07:03 PM

i like them though i havent heard themin a while

Zombie_Fetish 05-04-2007 11:10 AM

i <3 pennywise

PaperHurricanesAndPlanes 05-05-2007 03:31 PM

Land Of The Free was horrid. Totally generic.

tjtech12 03-29-2008 10:24 AM

I'm gonna revive this thread, since they have a new record, Reason To Believe (for free!). How do you guys like the new one? my favorite tunes so far are "Something to live for" and "Faith and Hope".

The new record seems to be a lot better than the last couple records. The gang vocals are great.

Alfred 03-29-2008 04:53 PM

Pennywise is a great band. My favourite song by them is probably Homesick or maybe Alien or Yesterdays. Bro Hymn is classic.

tjtech12 04-06-2008 12:11 PM

I have Full-Circle, Land of the Free? and Reason to Believe. I was thinking of getting Straight Ahead next.

tjtech12 04-14-2008 04:14 PM

Anyway, the old stuff is really good, but prior to Straight Ahead, they had poor recording quality.

The Beatles 04-14-2008 04:53 PM

For anyone new to this band, I would reccomend starting with "Pennywise". But they have other great albums too such as "About Time", "Full Circle", "Land of the Free?", and "The Fuse". Their new album, "Reason to Believe" is good also. Anyways, my favorite song is probably "**** Authority".

Richiban 04-15-2008 03:25 PM

The last one I bought was 'Land of the Free' which wasn't awful, but definately didn't stand up to my favorite 'Straight Ahead.'

I gave it a rest for a while and picked up 'Reason To Believe' on a whim and have found myself listening to it quite regularly. It seems like they're actually enjoying themselves again as opposed to just churning out generic punk songs to fill records.

Phillyboy 10-12-2009 01:32 PM

So Jim Lyndberg left Pennywise

There lead singer of almost 20 has left the band, citing that it was time to move on. I got to see them at Starland this year, and am really happy I got too.

What do you think this means for the band, and who do you think will become the full time lead singer, or will they just break up all together?

tgpo 10-12-2009 05:33 PM

Pennywise is on my long list of punk bands I gave a fair listen to, but never got interested in.

If they're like all other punk bands, they'll find a new singer and continue on, but all the fans will deny their existence proclaiming "I only listen to REAL Pennywise, and not this poser crap with the new lead singer" so they look cool, but will secretly continue to listen and download their records.

Alfred 10-12-2009 05:35 PM

Well, that's mildly surprising. I used to like Pennywise a fair bit, but not so much anymore. Jim was a pretty good singer.

Phillyboy 10-12-2009 07:19 PM

Well, there music was never really different from album to album, but they were just a cool band. Jim had been lead singer for almost 20 years, and they have a new touring vocalist. I haven't heard him yet, but if the new lead singer is good, I'll give it a fair listen. It won't be the same without Jim, but the other 3 musicians are pretty damn talented.

wad 10-12-2009 07:56 PM

i kinda think they are a bad religion sound-alike band.

sidewinder 10-12-2009 10:21 PM

Wow, really? Jim left the band? That's pretty crazy. I know I feel this way about a lot of bands but, his voice is distinct and a good way to identify the band. I hope the rest of the band doesn't try to continue with the band. They are past their prime and it's time to try something else. I gave up on them several albums back because it was nothing but the same every time. But their earlier stuff is great. I wouldn't mind hearing Jim start up another project, something a little different. Kind of like Joey from Lagwagon did with Bad Astronaut. Something creative.
