Their album, Metal Box (1979), was a leading factor in the creation of post-rock (along with some of their other works). I can see how you got mixed up though (they are, after all, considered post-punk).

You don't? They sometimes utilized ambient/drone and slow-tempo sound in their songs. Apparently, NME said that they were "arguably the first post-rock group." Albeit, I probably could've used a better example other than Metal Box.

I suppose, conceptually, they could've influenced some post-rock bands. To me they sound very different from the Godspeeds of the world, though. I would say perhaps The Durutti Column are the post-punk band closest to the post-rock sound.

nope, don't hear it at all, post-rock sound to me more early prog-influenced than anything else

Post-rock to me is basically modern progressive music, which would mean that it came out of progressive music.

Post-rock was influenced by kraut-rock especially, and so was PIL. That's the only thing they have in common, as far as I can see. They were influenced by different aspects of kraut-rock.
