fashion punk

what do you have to say about all these 'fashion punk bands'. I honestly can't see them all being in it just for the fashion. sounds a bit rediculous to me. think some of them just do it for attention? i don't really mean attention, well sort of, but take the casualties, you think they're gonna have a few less of those 12 year old teenybopper fans if they decided to ditch the spikey hair? do you think this even bothers them? ever bother you how some people will eat sh*t up so quickly just because it's coming from someone with a mohawk and studded jacket? i don't really know where i'm going with this, but quite a few people say that part of punk is about not caring what other people think of the way you look(which isn't true for anybody, and you know it), but there's fashion and style and sh*t in the punk scene just like everywhere else. I think this is basically along the lines of those 'does image matter?' threads, so, uh, yeah. post.

StupidCrackWhore 04-09-2005 04:31 PM

fashion punk bands? you mean like casualties?

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-09-2005 06:33 PM

I always thought the whole point of the original punk movement was that it was free thinking.

I guess that got missed somehow among the leather jackets & the mohawks

jesus 04-09-2005 07:19 PM

there are a lot of different 'definitions' of punk being thrown around today. i'm sure you know this. and there's another thing, how all the 'punks' out there are saying they're not conforming by having leather jackets and mohawks when more and more people are starting to do that every day.

sleepy jack 04-10-2005 11:59 AM

I think maybe some fans are in it for that but i cant really think of a band that is.

David Frost 04-10-2005 06:03 PM

fashion anything sucks.

music is about music. not about what you wear

Anarchy doll 04-10-2005 07:09 PM

well, i like the casualties, and yeah, they are pretty outrageous in their dress, kinda like they try too much and that who could ACTUALLY look like that and not be famous huh?
I am a mom, so I hung up mu spikes and studs and only go out with them when I got a night to myself....
my boots however....will only get hung up when I get a new pair...
(there's a metaphore in there.......)

jesus 04-10-2005 09:02 PM

i don't think it's outrageous, many people dress like the casualties and aren't famous. it just seems like a lot of their socalled 'fans' don't see past the mohawks and studded belts and just like it because they're this street punk band with these hardcore punk looking guys, so they must be cool. i'm not saying they shouldn't dress like that, but it's rediculous how some people just act like it's so important,. and i never said i didn't like the casualties.

jesus 04-10-2005 09:03 PM

also i'm not just talking about the casualties either, hope you didn't miss that

Anarchy doll 04-14-2005 09:01 AM

nope, I was just reffering to them becuz it seems that that was the band of subject at the time!
Personally, I like the punk dress of DK and Pistols and Martha and the Muffins...etc....
they are not trying too hard, that is more real to me!

alleyezonme12 05-02-2005 12:34 PM

some bands feel the fashion adds to the music, rather that it might put a visual to what there lyrics are trying to say.

Anarchy doll 05-02-2005 07:17 PM

if they're veiws were clear and strong and they were proud about it, they wouldn't have to dress up.

So true... When did it go from thoughts and ideals to clothes and hair?

Anarchy doll 05-05-2005 12:46 PM

1979

punkrocklove 05-11-2005 12:38 AM

Well the casualties are punks of a street punk band, and if they dress the way they wan't to is because they can and because they feel like it.

Hmmmm, maybe, but other reasons may also be in play. I don't know enough to say what they are though.

partisan 05-13-2005 01:16 PM

I dont see how you can call the casualties 'fashion punks', well at least not Jorge. His been in the punk scene for at least 11 years and has always dressed like that (along with Jake).
Fashion punk bands? Just because your in a band and dress in leather etc dosen't mean your dressing up, what about all the other punks that aren't in bands and even in small/local bands.
People get on to others about stero-punks are in it for fashion, well it wouldn't be a sterotype if people didn't dress it. They wore it in the 70s they wore it in the 80s, 90s, so whats worng with it now? It ignorant people that is ruining the scene not these so called fashion punks.
Ill leave it on that.

hiu 05-15-2005 03:00 AM

The casualties should spend more time learning how to play music instead of getting hairdressers to spend hours styling their hair.

partisan 05-15-2005 04:34 AM

there hairs been like that since they began....why should you care anyways? just dont listen to them

I hope you get banned again... Your vendetta is stupid. Just accept that you were banned and move on with your life. Coming back (assuming you are who you say you are) and trying to be some hard-ass only proves my point.

hiu 05-15-2005 01:47 PM
