Bauhaus

Well... I recently discovered these guys a few days ago, and I have become somewhat of a fan of their music. So... I figured I would make a thread about them. Essentially, they are a really talented gothic rock/post-punk bad with an artsy singer... From what I have listened to so far, they seem to have a very noisy aesthetic to their guitar-playing, along with minimal electronics and occasionally fuzzy/distorted bass lines.

At the moment, I have only listened to In the Flat Field, but I definitely plan on exploring more of their discography in the future... Any suggestions?

Only this. Go through their discography in order of release.
Listen to it all.
Hugely talented musicians and as good as they are, vastly under rated, generally.

I like your approach to discovering new music Jack Pat.

Love this song so much. First gothic rock song?

Another one of my favourites is 'Hollow Hills', the sense of dread and mystery that the song creates is remarkable.

I once had the honour of watching Bauhaus perform a tribute to Joy Division by playing 'Transmission' as an encore at The Academy in Manchester.
They brought the house down.
Grown men cried.
It was beautiful, historic.

Top band. I will say this though... In The Flat Fields and Mask are the only truly great albums they released. Their three other albums are good, with stand-out moments on each, but they just aren't in the same league as the first two. Obviously Bela Lugosi is Dead is a must-have recording too.

My favourite t-shirt is a Bauhaus one, it's pretty sexy.

'Transmission' has a special place in the heart of all Mancunians.

Don't believe me?
Manchester carnival;

Saw them live once, some years ago. Great band! You really can't go wrong with any of their albums.

Bauhaus has been one of my favorite bands since I was a young'un. Amazing, amazing stuff and not a single album that's less than terrific. I saw them live when they reunited in 1998 and they were just as impressive in person.

I liked Mask and their live album Press the Eject and Give Me the Tape. Also didn't mind the offshoot bands Tones on Tail and Dali's Car.

I adore this band. Peter Murphy's solo stuff was good as well. It doesn't seem to stray so much from his Bauhaus days.
