The demise of Pussy Galore produced some notable bands, the most infamous of these of course was the John Spencer Blues Explosion, but it also resulted in noise rock band Royal Trux, and the lesser known Action Swingers, which is a shame, considering that they were one of the best and most gritty punk rock acts of the 1990's.

The Action Swingers

Oh My God Yes

alright Willie....i've not been posting much but have been reading....but i figure i'll likely be the only person to comment on one of the most underrated bands in the history of booze soaked rock....well fucking done on mention of Action Swingers...

i cannot think of another band that truly hits the way i feel about myself and the world around me....and that plays rock the way it should be played....drunk and dangerous....its such a shame that these guys get almost no recognition

Ned Hayden writes some of the most simplistic real lyrics i've ever heard...like

"Everything I See Is Fake
Everything I Touch It Breaks
I Could Never Make It Straight
I Don't Wanna Be This Way"

brilliant!

seriously man major props on even mentioning them....they are easily in my top five bands of all time

all of you should be listening to this band

edit....i should had known Engine would be with me on this one :)

double edit....look Scratch Acid really are great and all....but they are **** compared to Jesus Lizard

naw on the Scratch Acid being shit compared to JL. That is crazy talk.

Only way I would 100% agree to that is if LJ called it quits after "Liar".

They had it in the bag to be all around better, but they screwed it up by going downhill more and more.

JL may have some individual albums that are better than SA, but when they were at their best, they were the best.

Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm not the only Action Swingers fan out there. They're one of my all time favourite bands to, but I got to take Bob's side on the JL debate, cheers.

52. Anti Flag Genre (Punk Rock/Melodic Hardcore/Anarcho Punk) Pennsylvania, era 00's modern

Aus Rotten Genre (Anarcho Punk/Crust) Pennsylvania, era, 90's

Everyone's favorite skinny vegan anarchists. I once heard Anti Flag described as the back street boys of punk by a crust fan, which is a little harsh, when you consider that there is a reason why most people know of Anti Flag, but have not heard much crust. (I say this as a big fan of the latter.) Simply put, Anti Flag started out as just another punk rock band, and now they are near the top of the heap.

This Is The End

Emigre

Broken Bones

Aus Rotten

Politically Anti Flag must have been somewhat inspired by Aus Rotten as they came out of the same city, but I've already mentioned that I'm not a fan of preachy anarcho punk, as it amounts to an indoctrination tool in my books, and I'm just not a true believer... even if its meant to be well intentioned, I like Aus Rotten's music though.

Modern Day Witch Hunt

The Second Rape

Xenophobia

Oh god! Jstrodel was right! Punk rock music really is a tool of Communists to spread their message!
