No...one list is good enough to last me a lifetime, I wouldn't want to do another.

No Territorial Pissings the only real punk rock song on that album. :soapbox:
I don't understand the Nirvana nod, but the thread has been a good read and polarizing to say the least.

Well Fred, if you have any recomendations let me know, I'm going to revamp the list in the fall, as I don't feel I finished the job I set out to do, which was to make a good comprehensive list of hardcore/punk bands.

Basically I didn't start checking out the indie labels until mid stream, and as a result, I ended up compiling a long list of bands that were too late to fit on the list. I also didn't do a very good job of capturing the harder end of the genre by today's standards, too many old school bands.

As for polarizing, the countdown was just for fun, I didn't actually think anyone would follow along, so Nirvana was an easy way to avoid mumbling when I noticed the view count was spiking.

I just went with my ear, if I didn't, most of the metalcore & melodic hardcore bands would have been eradicated from the list. You would be surprised at how much I held my nose, it was not my personal top 10.

I thought it was alot of fun to read WTB. I'd say its been a fun read and the feedback from other users made it interactive enough to avoid being stale. Gonna be interesting to read Bastards Metal thread and i'm looking forward to that along with your revamped thread. Kudos my friend.

I love Nirvana at #1.

I know they aren't as punk as most would expect from this list, but they definitely are a hardcore band at heart. Everything Kurt wrote was punk, but the production was just so pop that we never think of them as a punk band.

I'm totally cool with this.

Still trying to figure out why Billy Idol and/or Generation X weren't on the list. But it wasn't my list so, eh.

I loved the list! This has easily been one of my favorite threads of the year. I may not have agreed with every pick, but that's to be expected, it's not my list after all. And even though I teased you a little about the Nirvana pick, the fact is that you demonstrated so much knowledge throughout the thread that I have nothing but respect for your opinions. :)

Same here. And I actually thought Nirvana at #1 was a cool choice. Different and ballsy. Personally I think they're ace and better than 95% of punk/hardcore bands.

An interesting end to a good thread, good work William. I have to admit I thought you were just going to leave it with Limp, still not sure I'd put Nirvana in with hardcore but you have to have your own twist in your own thread. Other than your dislike of Fugazi and your liking of metalcore, a generally agreeable list :D

in all honesty i thought Nirvana would be on here after you listed Jesus Lizard....but i have to admit i was not thinking the number one spot.....and you really threw me of when you said "a conservative band"

personally i love Nirvana....i just don't consider them a punk band....but thats the fun of it right? it's all subjective :)

a great thread that i am truly sad to see over
