Lee Ving is a ****ing conservative?

Ew, I'm not here for that. Punk rock and conservatism are two things that should never be put together.

I've met people that actually think Graves is a better vocalist then Danzig. I haven't heard much less Famous Monsters which was ok. I'm not much of a fan of The Misfits so the vocalist change never bothered me.

Well, there are a few stories of homophobia/racism in punk, as well as the whole "fuck the government" stance which is closer to libertarian than liberal. But I think that may be outdated.

I didn't really want to entertain this guy when he came on, first because he doesn't know what he's talking about, and second because he's obviously a true believer of some sort.

What may have seen like a big revelation for him, discovering that a lot of punk bands are on the far left, for the rest of was probably a big no **** sherlock!

As for his argument, Marxism and Anarchism are not tied together. Anyone who has read history knows that Mikhail bakunin (the world's most notable anarchist) & Karl Marx hated each other, largely because of their disagreement on the role of the state, in which Bakunin wanted none.

Despite the Clash's left leaning principles, the vast majority of hardcore punk bands on the left are rooted in anarchism, an equally fruity ideology in my opinion, but I must also concede that I've seen a lot of good stuff come out of practicing anarchists. Communal housing, animal rights activism & general good bleeding heart liberal causes. So it is not all bad.

If he knew anything about hardcore or punk he would know that there were a lot of right wing punk ideals in a lot of punk bands as well. In fact the whole New York hardocore scene from Agnostic Front, the Cro Mags down, had a whole whack of conservative ideals floating around in their heads.

Provided it doesn't promote hate, diversity of views is a good thing not a bad thing,
which is why I can't stand anarcho punks who denounce bands like Agnostic Front or the Exploited because they don't fit their particular mold of what punk rock should be in their eyes.

To me that is tolitarainism thinking, Marxism if you would like me to give this guy some credit, but ironically he's doing the exact same thing by telling you that you shouldn't listen to punk because of its political views. So who's the real totalitarian here???

Anyways there is my rant, this post had been bugging me lol
