NOFX - Punk In Drublic

This album is for me probably one of the best post-punk albums of the 90's.
This record is almost flawless (for a punk album).
Way better than most of the stuff that bands like Green day and Offspring recorded in that same time period.
Too bad that Punk In Drublic did not get the recognition it deserves....
Do you agree?

I like it on it's level. I don't think it's quite as good as "White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean" but it's WAY better than "Heavy Petting Zoo". It's tight and humorous with a fat guitar sound, but it's not breaking any new ground IMO.

Speaking of Breaking Things, IMO the greatest Pop-Punk album ever

It's a spoonerism

Hm, not so sure it didn't get attention, I mean in "punk" circles it is pretty widely known (guessing it was on release, don't have many memories from those days) and probably equally hated/adored and it has to be their most well known album aside from Errorism?

Their best album, though its been quite a while since I've listened to one of their albums through pure, prefer to mixthem up as to go a long with their great songs, they have a lot of boring ****e!

Yeah, this..... it is far from unknown. One of Epitaph's best selling albums, everyone and their dog owns it here... Even people who are not punk fans really, or NOFX albums have this album. It is along with "Smash" by The Offspring and "...And Out Come the Wolves" part of the big 3 Punk albums from that label.

So yeah, far from being unknown or under appreciated or what not..

edwardc77 03-05-2013 05:27 PM

I still believe it's quite unknown outside strict punk circles... the album went barely gold. While other albums of similar quality got way more recognition "...And out come the Wolves" hit platinum,"Smash" went 5 times platinum and Dookie went diamond (10 million copies)

BastardofYoung 03-05-2013 07:34 PM

Yeah, but both "Smash" and "Dookie" had much more play. They had radio play and their videos in heavy rotation.. and were on a major label to boot. Punk in Drublic for having little play on an indie label was just as important.

It has since only gone platinum, not a huge seller now.... but for it's time, it was a huge success in North America.

I get what you mean, the difference for me, only picking it up post 90s was that most people I knew ( of my age) didn't know anything that wasn't on MTV or Kerrang (unless they got stuff from older siblings, like I did) -hence the explosion of greenday/offspring. Rancid got some fame as people wanted a more modern clash record. NOFX only really hit my circles with Errorism, most people didn't much care for their earlier stuff. They were never massive in the Uk (to my knowledge) but again-anyone who likes a bit of "punk" as opposed to what Greenday/Offspring/Sum41 knows Punk in Drublic.

I love the diversity in "Perfect Government", and "Linoleum" is definitely a classic.
