Ian Curtis

Would you agree that Ian Curtis is the king of post punk?

Sansa Stark 12-14-2013 09:06 PM

**** no

GravitySlips 12-14-2013 09:12 PM

This guy, he made some good music.

Great, even.

Hey! Nice to see you around again GS!

On the subject of Ian Curtis, he's certainly an icon but the king of post punk? Nah. I don't think post punk really has a king.

In answer to the OP.
I'd say Curtis was the 1st King of Post Punk.

thx!
Busy with work and university and stuff but I still enjoy browsing here occasionally man.

Your point is the salient one - post-punk needs no king. It's too diverse and broad in sound and approach to be encapsulated by one individual. Ian Curtis rules, but in a genre with bands such as The Fall, The Raincoats, Wire, This Heat, PiL, Young Marble Giants, Pere Ubu, etc etc - to call one person the "king" is to sell the others short.

RoxyRollah 04-15-2014 01:57 PM
