Burger recorrrds

So I've been following this label for about 2 years now. They've become one of my favorites. It's run by 2 kids who live in their record shop, eat burgers all day (normally I'd make a snide comment on that but yeah, they release some of my favorite music so they get a relative pass), and shower in the backyard with a hose. Just, the crowd and the scene and the artists involved are some seriously wacky fun ****in people. I've already made a couple threads with bands signed to them but thought it'd be fun to just make a thread devoted to the label itself and just post some songs they've released and see what people think. If it catches on it might be cool to do the same with other labels? I'd imagine a Dischord or Sub Pop type label might garner more attention with this site's punk crowd but hey, someone's gotta up the parrrtypvnx. A word of caution, a lot of this will sound pretty similar. Burger does pretty much one thing but they do it right-

So I'll start with stuff I really like and have posted about before.

Spoiler for FIDLAR:

Easily one of my favorite bands ever. They have a nice balance of crazy, rowdy, obnoxious skate-punk songs, some fun cheery pop songs, a few downer tunes, and some ****ed up noisy jams. They blew up a year or so ago but haven't been up to much since. Not all of their songs were released by Burger. They got picked up by Mom and Pop for their full-length but Burger's always been involved.

Spoiler for Together Pangea:

So these guys are pals with FIDLAR. They're both based in LA, skateboard, do a bunch of drugs, drink a lot, and look like they shop at trendy thrift shops. Also like FIDLAR, they have a great balance of different material- though their newest release seems maybe a little more serious (at least, musically).

Spoiler for Cherry Glazerr:

Good lord I've just been crushin all over this girl. She's almost cuter than Max from FIDLAR. Annnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyywayssssssssssssssssssss. I guess you could call it bluesy, mostly slow-paced tunes with very whispy vocals. Much more to appreciate instrumentally and they're just a three-piece. They have songs about Grilled Cheese and spending all your money on cigarettes. Next to Tacocat (seriously Bobs, if you're reading I can't thank you enough for introducing me to them), they have one of the best songs about being on one's period I've ever heard. It is with some regret that I can only sympathize and not relate.

Spoiler for White Fang:

So it's hard to tell whether they're being satirical or not but either way their songs are a lot of fun and just radiate early Lou Reed but perhaps not quite as uh... literary.

Paying attention? Notice that PANGEA shirt? Yes. Yes you did. Because you can deal. You can deal with being real. You gotta admit that bassline is pretty killer too.

Spoiler for ****ING NOBUNNY:

If you don't listen to Nobunny I don't even wanna ****in know you. The sleaziest, most obnoxious bunny ever. Saw them live once and people had sex on stage. It was bananas.

Stay tune. More to come. Feel free to post your favorite BURGER records tunes, too. AND CHECK THIS **** OUT. I can't be the only degenerate perv who loves this shit more than flies love shit on this site.

i really don't know much about burger records, but it seems like a solid label. they released pure x's latest album on cassette, which was a decent album; colleen green's sock it to me and some enjoy cassettes, too. together's pangea's great.

looking at their catalogue on discogs was fun. they have a lot of neat re-releases and a bunch of stuff i didn't know was released on the label (like that tashaki miyaki cassette and some off! stuff). i didn't even know they released anything of nobunny's.

thread's cool

Well they're why I have three Heatmiser albums on tape now so they're alright in my book. Also that band Cherry Glazerr are way killer, homegirl of mine was playin em the other day and I was like "wow, that's rad." I still haven't checked more into em, just those few songs but they were seriously cool.
