Yeah us 21+ music people don't want our beer spilled haha. Bump into me sure, but don't throw a punch, I'm trying to fall into a head banging alcohol trance over here. Rough housing ruins it, too communal an affair.

I think there is a certain joy in mosh pits. I dig it. Spill my beer try to punch me, I love it. Got stage dived into head first at Off! last month and apparently my head is still hard enough to hurt people. Good Times.

Yeah don't get me wrong I love pits and I still mosh often, especially at punk shows, but the pit has its place and those within it are usually expected to know its boundaries. Metal / punk show etiquette is knowing where the rails start, where the pit begins, and where the beer borders stand.

Was at The Viper Room a few years back seeing 24/7 Spyz with Lin with our elbows on the stage when a mosh broke out with some HUGE dudes. We got our butts outta the way fast.

I love being a smaller man and hopping into mosh's. Courteous people don't push me too hard but I can push anyone as hard as I fucking want. Other small men are relentless to me though, I punch them in the face.

Well I'm an old shoe now and remember attending all ages punk shows in junior high back in the late 80's & then of course through the 90's.

Back then there friendly mosh pits. (Dead Kennedys, DOA, Nirvana) and unfriendly ones (The Exploited, Sick of it All, Biohazard) it just depended on the band and the audience they attracted.

The hardcore dancing I believe was originally brought about by New York skinheads & than of course branched out to a younger generation of emo kids. As I recall it just started out as kids dancing aggressively and getting there elbows up.

^just because :)

so 10 years ago i went down to LA to see one of my all time favorite bands....i was in my late 20s and was that guy in the back thinking i'm just too old to handle these kids

then i heard that horn intro....and immediately remembered what hardcore is all about....within seconds i had pushed my way to the front and spent the entire set singing along

seriously how could you not move while watching this.....i just put two holes in my wall :)

^this is what hardcore is all about

also Slayer fans have NOTHING on Earth Crisis fans....

Bob you really need to do a journal on straight edge hardcore bands, Youth of Today ect.
