There is a fine line between how the mainstream media defines Pop-punk and how people who know their music define it.
Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way but, in my mind some real Pop-punk nowadays would be The Briefs, The Queers, The Star Spangles, etc;

So who ever did start Pop-punk, I thank you for some bands.
Listen to early Green Day and tell me they're not Pop-Punk.

There are some great Pop-Punk bands (I'm a big fan of The Descendants), but you can't discount the fact that all those MTV bands are Pop-Punk just because you don't like them.

one of my favorite pop punk albums would have to be Supernova - ages 3 and up..

one of the poppiest albums ive heard, pushing the boundaries of poppyness, almost too poppy sometimes, but that whole album is so fun, makes you wanna pogo till you pass out.

Really? Because I can't see why a band who writes punk-influenced, catchy, three-chord pop songs wouldn't be considered pop-punk.

Metallica is punk influenced. I play in a nu metal band that uses 3 chords.

and busted are catchy.

are they punk?

and another thing have you listened to new green day?

and have you listened to the ramones?

compare the two.

Listen to blink 182 then busted then the ramones and tell me which blink sounds the most like.

im not gonna go any further seeing as im sick of this arguement read the rules blink green day and all that are excepted here.

Well see, that's why it's Pop-Punk.

And you play in a Nu-Metal band, so I'm not sure how much I trust your judgment on anything music related.

Nu-Metal doesn't deserve to be called a genre. It's easily on the worst sub-genres to come about in recent times. I honestly don't think I can name one good band in the entire damn thing.

And Green Day are Pop-Punk, you just seem to dislike them due to the emphasis on the word pop.

I like tons of pop bands Mcfly,Busted,Backstreet boys etc...

New green day is purely modern rock.

McFly, Busted, Backstreet Boys?! Either you're joking, or you're digging your own grave there.

And I never said anything about new Green Day. I specifically said, "Listen to early Green Day..."
