The Chats

Didn't see a thread, but I thought I saw someone post about these guys recently. Since I can't find it:

From the Wiki:

Quote:

The Chats are an Australian punk rock band that formed in 2016 in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. They describe their sound as "shed rock". The current band lineup is composed of guitarist Josh Hardy, drummer Matt Boggis, and bassist and vocalist Eamon Sandwith. Known for their songs about Australian culture, they initially went viral for their song "Smoko" and its accompanying music video in 2017. To date they have released two EPs, The Chats (2016) and Get This in Ya!! (2017), and two studio albums High Risk Behaviour (2020) and Get ****ed (2022).

Any band that does a track about bus money is a-ok in my book. Ride your local public transit today!

Yeah I kinda like that they write about every day stuff. Like I genuinely think they wrote "pub feed" when they wanted to eat food at the bar.

I'm just happy we found some common ground. Carry on, wayward son.

Sigh. Bro, when you've made the sale, stop talking. In business, with women, music discussions in general.

But you know what, **** it. Recommend some bands. I'll listen to them.

I will try the UK Subs. I will begrudgingly try the Jam.

I've been listening to them since their start, and you best believe this new record will get heavy rotation at the shop I work at

It's a great song. Reminded me a bit of the Misfits in sound, not lyrics. But that Wet Leg cover ruined it. It was so bad.

The Jam is bland and mediocre, I wouldn't bother

if I want songs about the modern world to blast in a car then the Modern Lovers is all I need

Shouldn't that be in Unpopular Music Opinions? The Jam are one of the great Mod bands.

BUT I swear by This is the Modern World...super fun album, sounds amazing blasted out of a car

An interesting take. It's a fun album, but what does it do better than the first album in your opinion?

Most people rag on This is the Modern World (album). The track itself is great though, not sure what it is about it, but it always gets stuck in my head. Been a minute since I've listened to the Jam, but I remember thinking TITMW was just an inferior version of their first record.

I'd sooner recommend the Damned than the Jam though for anyone trying to get into punk (UK Subs was a good pick tho) - but I'm guessing Big3 has already heard them. Great band.
