What is the difference between Hip Hop and Rap?
 

Like the title suggests what is the difference between Hip Hop and Rap?

hip hop is a culture that influenced the likes of graffiti and break dancing. Rap is rap music.

also, any artist who raps is a rap artist.

agreed, hip hop has elements of culture, like graffiti and break dancing and the whole scene is described as hip hop. where rap is basically the rhyming and mcing element of it. well thats what ive thort it to be, some people pick the two out as different genres with hip-hop including more of a empahsise on the beats and higher quality mcing whereas rap is more over production with not as precise lyrics. but my idea of it is hip-hop is a culture containing elements such as rap.

hiphop is not a music genre, but rap is a sub culture of hiphop. Hiphop encompasses music (rap...), dance (breakin...) and art (graffiti....)
